Ode to Someone-Or-Other

Don’t you love the summer time?
When love is new and words begin to rhyme?
There is just me and you
Holding hands, staring at your eyes, so blue
This is when we first fall in love
I’d do anything for you, just because

Fall is here and school is starting
There’s no way we’re thinking of parting
At least not for a few months more
When you start talking to that stupid whore
“She’s nothing,” you say, “just a friend.”
But you leave me for her in the end

It’s wintertime, whoop-de-doo
All I can think about is you
Your face keeps me awake at night
All day I see you with her, her hair dyed too light
But you two finally break up
You tell me you’re mad that you were dumped

Happy New Year, everyone
My resolution’s for us to be done
But of course I quickly break it
When you say you just can’t take it
You love me, you say, but it doesn’t last
In a week you make us “friends” like in the past

Spring, I hear, is supposed to be for love
But you’re the closest thing I can think of
You love me again and I jump for joy
Then you toss me ‘cause I’m you’re stupid toy
That you play with just for fun
Because I don’t have enough sense to run

Summer’s back and we’re talking again
You don’t have it in mind to be my friend
You ask me out and make us official
But I’m scared to see you, a little
You’ll leave me alone soon, I figure
And, like I guessed, you pull out of the picture

But what you don’t know is this
This is something you may have missed
I don’t love you anymore, I’m done
So go back to your whore, have fun!
It took being with you to realize we don’t work
Now I’m gonna go find someone my time’s worth
