Stuck On Shadows

Standing in the dark while the walls are closing in
Watching all the sorry people do their best to win
Black and painted trees falling in the wind
And a thousand daisy stems frayed and broken
This is the world we watch each lonely day
When no one else around has better to say
So watch the blue-green bay on a black day
And yellow suns you love, still come out to play
Sapphire blue slippers tap to go home all along
But seem to go no where as the silver moon dawns
She still wears a golden heart hung around her neck
Hanging for a crime that is keeping her in check
What started as a piece of her immortal sun
Has dulled to a faint flicker about to be undone
Pour more water on the flames, if you wish it so
But I cannot be drowned, though it melts the snow
Pull out my hair and rip off my clothes
My heart is still burning under a rose
