Little White Bird

The skies will cry black tears tonight
When she's not alone.
Her tears were dried up months ago
On things she can't atone.

Her mother died and her dad's no good,
Her brother ran to Michigan.
She had learned to not cry out
When her daddy hits again.

The beaten image and tortured skin
Of a poor neglected child.
Little wings that cannot heal
Won't fly her a single mile.

Her diary is filled with dreams,
Empty words she forced.
Not a single one came true;
Not in a life that's cursed.

As she prays by her bed,
She prays for dear old Daddy.
She wants him to finally be
At least a little happy.

Her last wish and her final hope,
She lays down in her bed.
Daddy comes in, not so happy,
And beats her fragile head.

The service was a short one
And no one seemed to care.
A little grave for a little girl
Who didn't have it fair.

She watches as her daddy
Is taken from her grave.
He's not getting happiness,
None of what she gave.

Her little white wings were let loose,
But they fly to only one place.
She wants to see her mommy,
Just to see her pretty face.

A little girl who did nothing wrong,
But dream and hope and love.
She left behind a world of hate,
That won't even save a dove.
