The Sidewalk Left

Gone is a word I won’t remember
Such emptiness as it brings me
When the lone leaf in the side walk shadows
And the charcoal eyeliner of a geisha
Makes up the sunset
I will not remember they have gone
Forget and I will not remember
I won’t think of the things I’ve done
Denial is a luxury I enjoy
Ruined a thing might be
Because of me
Gone
I was not gone
I stayed
You and you left
You were gone
Allowing me to watch the shadowed leaf
On the sparkling side walk
But I would not wish to pick it up
