Secrets and Lies

It's the darkest secrets
That are the hardest to hide
To keep them repressed
To know that you've lied.

'Some secrets weren't meant to be told'
But when the weight gets heavy,
Can we keep our hold?
Keep them tucked away?

Some people couldn't handle the truth,
But is it better to lie?
Tell them everything's fine,
And hold in the sigh?

With a heavy heart,
Could you carry on?
Live another day?
Sing another song?

Or would it over-take you,
This secret hidden well.
Would it tear apart you,
Make you break your promise and tell?

Secrets that are the darkest
Are always the hardest to tell.
Secrets that are the hardest,
Need to be let go.

But not just to any one,
No, not your average Joe.
They need to be told to your own,
The one you trust the most.
