Love in past-tense.

You lied to me when you said that you loved me.
I know this is cliche, but darling, can't you see.
Every time I see you, you know I die inside.
Because she's always with you, always at your side.

This isn't supposed to happen, we had it all planned.
I was on cloud nine, I wasn't supposed to land.
I gave you my heart and you broke it in two.
Can't you see, can't you tell, baby, I love you?

Whisper those three little words, "I love you."
But I know you'll be lying, and it won't be true.
And instead you say, "I'm with her." and walk out the door.
And I drown myself in vodka and pass out on the floor.

Oh, you don't know what you've been doing to me.
And you don't know that this wasn't meant to be.
But I love you, I still love you, no matter what the future holds.
We just have to take this paper heart and flatten out the folds.
