Crossroads

Crossing paths retraced
Your eyes appeared in the darkness
Reawakening a familiar song
A peculiar feeling stirred

There is a call in the wind
Shouted echoes within
As darkness embraces
This peculiar feeling

Perhaps we have met before
Perhaps we have talked before
Perhaps you were once there for me
And I, for you

Perhaps we were one…before
But like strangers we passed
And this peculiar feeling slipped by
As your eyes fade into cold darkness

And I
I stood in the middle of nowhere
Watching you fade away
Yet this peculiar feeling yearns so for you
Yet my feet refused to obey the guilty conscience

Perhaps I was you once
Perhaps you were me once
Perhaps we were one once…before
But tonight we part for good, forever

How strange it is
I see myself walking away
I see myself standing here with no reason to hold “me” back
I let “myself” go
How strange it feels
When a peculiar feeling yearns so for you, for “me”
But my soul refused to reach out as told

But I know
One day I’ll end up at this crossroad again
And I’ll see you in the distant
Though far you will be there
Always reminding me of the past I was

You will be there
There are many more crossroads ahead, you’ll say
And you’re there waiting
For every chance to have your unjust say

In the cold darkness we will pass
Like strangers in the night
So familiar
So distant
We tried to reach out
We tried and we failed

The heaven-sent light has blinded me
And I let “myself” go
Perhaps there will be more crossroads to come
Like strangers we’ll pass
Heading down our own roads
Never realizing I just passed “myself”
