So Guilty

He was crazy in his mind
And driven by that side
He was never too unkind
Just guilty for the lies.

He had a year old baby
And a wife that still had looks.
He knew he'd regret it daily,
But he packed and off he took.

The baby waved goodbye
Too young to understand
She never knew to cry
She only loved the man

Visits sometimes on off days
A card or two in the mail
You couldn't trust him anyways
Promises often stale.

So his daughter calls him up one night
Too young to truly feel
He only wants to hold her tight
Her broken heart he wants to heal.

But she screams herself to tears
She spits venom with every word
She hasn't seen him in years
Does he truly know the hurt?

She tells him what's on her mind
She never wants to see him again.
He just wants to hit rewind
But he only feels his heart bend.

He's now at his breaking point
He needs to go buy his fix
But his heart is too badly destroyed
The clock just stops its ticks

I feel like I caused this
Someone just blame me
All these years I've fought this
But it's caught up to shame me.

Please forgive me, Daddy
I loved you and I still do
I hurt you way too badly
I'm sorry and I miss you.
