Black Widow

Lovely widow-
Alone again tonight-
Come back to life;
I’ll pass you my torch-
Come back to the light!

Winding your web of selfish deceit,
You learn so quickly to hide yourself-
Making short work of those who would trust,
You make it seem so selfless to die-
It almost feels like Prey is Friend-

Nearing the cataclysm of your soul,
You realize there’s nothing left inside-
Wandering about in the darkness of the night,
You pick an innocent that makes it easy-
Something tells me you’ve been there before-

Lovely widow-
You are a sight-
Beauty is living;
In the flames you have thrived-
Come back!

Trailing you back to the nest,
I see the harshness that comes from years of lonesome-
Kneeling at your many altars,
I recognize your Pain, Anguish-
Almost too unbearable to be you-

Needing to see more of your handy work,
I push aside the tendrils of fate-
Wanting to be one with you,
I squeeze in amongst your treasures-
It is too frightening to acknowledge-

Your greed has humbled me,
Like your need has enraptured me-
No longer afraid to dance with the dead,
I let out a single sigh of ecstasy,
Dying clear away…
