Too Close.

I sit and smile.
Watching lives on the screen.
My problems not reconciled,
My life random themes.

The little girl on the telly
Is she really me?
Lying on her belly,
wearing the "Ernie and Bert" Tee?

The happy little smile
The cute little wave
Happiness goes for miles.
This little girl behaves.

Her stellar blue eyes
Burn into my own.
The past me, I have no ties.
To that child, or that home.

Sometimes I wonder
what happened to that little girl
She got lost within the thunders
of an exploding world.

Now innocence is broken
My life's on the screen
So many words unspoken
Here's my favorite scene.

The little girl giggles
And says through my home,
With her fingers going wiggle,
"Daddy, that's too close!"
