Devil's Lair

He took her to his Devil's Lair
To show the bed he wished to share
With the poor maid so unaware

She walked into his deadly trap
Frightened when she heard it snap
Her mind it had no time to wrap

Around this new found fate that crossed
Before her eyes, empty and lost
Clouded by the haze and frost

Of promised love she wished for most
She clung to her most gracious host
Feeling almost like a ghost

Lost within a nameless time
When all the clocks began to chime
Reminding her of her crime

She couldn't help but wonder why
Her life had gone so awry
To think of this did make her cry

What happened to her life before
To no one else could she implore
This new life she must endure
