Don't Leave a Friend Behind

Walking down the sidewalk, after a day of fun,
Teri and Sarah wished the day had not been done.
On the way home, quite a few blocks to go,
they thought about the day they had, a carnival and the theater show.

They still had a long time to go, so they started to race.
Sarah was two feet ahead, Teri putting up a chase.
Laughing and laughing, they were still a ways from home,
Sarah way ahead, Teri falling behind, alone.

Another block they went, and Sarah turned around,
but the only thing there, sidewalk, houses, the ground.
At first she thought it was trick, maybe a cruel prank,
maybe she had hidden across the street, at the bank.

But then a car went by, and in the back window she looked,
Teri was pounding on the widow, taken by a crook.
At first Sarah panicked, wondering what to do,
she started to chase the car, not caring if she got captured too.

But of course she had lost, the car was too fast.
She sat there and cried, to nothing but the grass.
Then she looked across the street, and there sat a bike,
she got on and pedaled, to save Teri's life.

She caught up, and at a warehouse they ended up,
on the outskirts of a junkyard, she saw a Ford, and a pickup truck.
After the crook had taken Teri in,
Sarah sneaked in herself, hoping this fight she could win.

The warehouse was big, built from a clean slate,
Sarah tried to find the right room before it was too late.
She followed the man, he walked into a room and set something up,
Sarah tried to get a good look of it, but eventually gave up.

He put Teri in a chair with something above it,
As for Sarah, well she was scared as shit.
But so was Teri, and the man walked to a switch,
Sarah was about to run in, not just stand and be a bitch.

However for Teri it was too late,
it was an electric chair, the switch had sealed her fate.
Sarah just stood in the doorway, frozen with fear,
but she knew she had to go, before the man came too near.

She started to run, but her footsteps were too loud,
the man had noticed, leaving his shroud.
He ran along too, and as Sarah got back on her ride,
then she sped off, but she wasn't very sly.

He had jumped in his car, taking off right after,
it seemed impossible that earlier she was involved in deep laughter.
The car was too fast and Sarah was too slow,
the man had hit her, this she did know.

Sarah just lay there, bleeding to death,
she thought of one thing, she should have known best.

Don't leave your friend behind, always keep them by your side,
because little do you know, you could be going on your last ride.
