Something Missing, Something Lost..

How did they end up strangers, when he knew her the best
Tears fall down her shoulder on to her faintly beating chest
She walks the wooden floors to grab her jacket from the chair
It's not like anyone would notice that she merely wasn't there

She blew out the glowing candle on the nightstand by her bed
And looked into the mirrior to see her outlined eyes were dead
The starless night was an attraction that was always on display
She tip-toed down the staircase to the door and slipped away

Walking off her doorstep she began to brace the frigid weather
She knew her silent departure wouldn't make things any better
Her steps became heavy against the pathway from her home
As she watched the moon dissapear into the vast unknown

The echoing emptyness inside left her numb and hopeless
Her heart hurt her more than words could even begin to express
The skyline behind her slowly began to blur into distorted shapes
While she waited for her frenzied life to seamlessly fall into place

An hour had elapsed and she wandered toward a nearby lake
Watching the the waters ripple as she thought of her mistakes
She shook herself together and lingered back on roads she crossed
Thinking that something was missing, knowing that she was lost
