The Girl Behind the Scars

The Girl Behind the Scars

The girl behind the many scars,
Has a longing for a life of love and acceptance.
When what she wants is out of reach,
She feels the need to punish herself.

A bite of shining steel across her arm,
Sends a fountain line of red,
When the fountain appears,
She is alive and somewhat hopeful,

The girl behind the scars,
Is a girl none-the-less,
She cries, thinks, breathes…
And more importantly, she bleeds like all of us.

Then why does she feel so alienated,
In the world that falls could at her touch?
She feels that the world ices at her touch and
When she reaches out, everything shatters before her eyes.

She sits alone at night with, bleeding arms and pouring tears,
She cries out questions about her life and lies and pain.
She wants to free herself of this vapid life and drowning lies-
But the girl in front of the scars won’t let her go.
