Evanescence - Origin
Evanescence became popular in 2003 when their album Fallen was released, causing people to take Fallen as a debut. But it wasn't. On November 4, 2000, under the record label of Bigwig Enterprises, Origin, Evanescence's true debut, was released in Little Rock, Arkansas. It was placed in the Bigwig catalog, but it only stayed there until February 2003, a few days before the Daredevil Soundtrack, which contained two songs from Fallen, was released, which brought Evanescence some pre-Fallen fame. Only 2500 copies of the original album were made.
Because Origin is a rare album, its prices skyrocketed when Evanescence reached mainstream popularity. People purchase real and fake copies of this rare album on Ebay for up to $300. A trick to help tell if an copy of Origin is real or fake is that original copies were never sealed in plastic, so if what is claimed to be a real copy of Origin is on eBay and says, "factory sealed and wrapped", it's a fake. But fake copies are constantly getting harder to tell apart from originals.
Some of the songs on Origin are earlier versions of songs that are on Fallen, such as Imaginary, My Immortal, and Whisper. Other songs on the album are Origin, Where Will You Go, Field of Innocence, Even in Death, Anywhere, Lies, Away From Me, and Eternal. Lies features vocals from Bruce Fizhugh and Stephanie Peirce. Origin also had two outtakes, Demise and Listen To The Rain, and a hidden outtake of Anywhere.
Although Origin is referred to as an album, Amy Lee, Evanescence's lead singer, says she does not consider Origin an album, but a CD demos that they "dressed up" to send to different major record labels.
