    well, i like your writing a lot, and your characters seem interesting, but i don't find the oil spill as something you can just fictionalize and alter, y'know? :/

    I haven't seen story centered around the explosion at all; this sounds interesting. You should definitely keep it and write more; the first chapter was great.
