I think that Ranee is partially happy because of her son, he is her little angel, her baby boy.
Even though she doesn't have someone that will love her romantically, she has Nathan, he is her world now.

I bet Zacky is pissed because Liz is involved with someone other than him and it's a woman too.
He is probably jealous because he isn't the one kissing her and saying 'I love you' to Liz.
And now everyone knows that Ranee is back and that she is the new neighbor.
I really love Ranee and Alex's love for each other, Alex cherish his mother more than anything and he would do anything to her happy.
