I think this is a great start. Overall, it seems well-written and original. The only part that struck me as the tiniest bit cliche was her looks. Still, I think this has promise. Looking forward to more :)

Usually I'm the type of person who likes some sort of action right away, but I like the way that this almost has a vintage feel. I've only read the first book, but I think it's almost got that same tone as in the books, and I think that's really cool considering it's supposed to be spin-off. Almost like it sort of raises the authenticity, the voice in it.

I think it's really sad that she lost, well, everything, but in that situation it's pretty plausible too. I like that you play it off a little less like an attempt at the sympathy vote and just... it happened. Though I still feel bad for her, I could never imagine losing everything.

Her friend interest me, Cato mostly. I don't know, I'm always drawn to his type of character, and he seems pretty awesome so far. I like how you mention he has a "dangerous attraction" to muggles, it says a little about his personality without actually saying it- showing not telling. Flora seems pretty nice too, and they both seem to care a lot of Scarlett obviously.

I always liked Malfoy, I mean sometimes I just smack my head at his actions but I don't know, I always liked him a lot more than Potter, maybe Ron on the same level. The famous line of "how bad could it be?" :D

I think it's a good start, has potential, I shall be subscribing and hoping for the best! :D
