This is a really interesting story, I didn't expect Ethan to be saved with a kiss, I never would have even thought of putting that in a story. I especially like the completely un-cliche reaction the narrator had, it was way more realistic than saying she enjoyed it, and Ethan's reaction to the kiss was a bit unexpected but also very fitting.
The second chapter makes me wonder why no one notices Ethan and why your narrator is suddenly hyper vigilant to Ethan.
