I know it's a one-shot, but (if you have time) could you write a sequel? Like, he meets a kind girl, who is totally his other half (and everyone tells him this), who cares about him and is willing to love him... YET he is stuck in the past, refusing to move on and letting go the pain. So eventually she goes away and he realize that he was being "the Summer" this time, he loves her (we start to appreciate the value of something after we lose it) and wants to get her back.
Or don't. But I thought about this sequel in my head and I'd be glad to read it haha sorry
