Baby, We Have Eternity

All My Fault

I made my way down the streets just before midnight. I could feel the others’ presences following me as I made my way to the warehouse.

I knocked on the door and waited solemnly. This was eating me up inside.

“Hanna!” he exclaimed, embracing me and briefly pressing his lips to mine. “I didn’t know what-”

“William just kept me at the manor for a few weeks,” I said, according to my scripted words.

“So do you want to come inside, or-”

“Come on Pete, I know where we can go,” I said, playing my part, knowing that William’s vampire spies were watching in case I should slip. I grabbed his hand, leading him along.

“Where are we going?”

“Just…just trust me,” I said, voice almost breaking as I Ied him to the exact spot William had directed.

“Hanna-what’s wrong?” he asked, as I had started to cry. I covered my face with my hands, collapsing to the floor in exhaustion as sobs racked my body. His arms caught me just in time. “Hanna-”

“We meet again, Wentz,” I removed my hands to see William’s triumphant smirk as he stared down at us. Pete growled and twitched to get into fighting position, but didn’t move from his spot beside me.

“I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry…” I whispered repeatedly to him.

“Hanna, what is going-”

“Get up,” William spat at me in disgust. I pulled myself away from Pete’s arms and went to stand behind William, who sneered at the look of shock plastered on Pete’s face.

“You were in on this the whole time!” he shouted at me accusingly, recovering from his total shock. I looked away, avoiding his glare.

“I’m sorry, Pete,” I apologized again, whispering more to my feet than to him. “I didn’t have a choice-”

“Don’t apologize,” William snarled. I shut up, hugging myself as silent tears rolled down my cheeks.

“You used me?” Pete asked in disbelief. I could feel his harsh stare burning into me.

“No!” I insisted, now looking at him so he’d believe me. He stared back, expressionless as I watched his eyes turn from coffee brown to bright crimson. “I didn’t want-”

“Don’t speak,” William commanded. I shut up. “Michael!” William called out into the night.

He came up behind us obediently.

“Take care of this,” William hissed under his breath, waving a hand in my general direction.

Pete was still glaring murderously, clenching his fists and obviously deciding what to do next. I froze, not knowing what else I could do. I felt Michael’s hand wrap around my upper arm gently but firmly.

“Come on, Hanna,” he whispered, pulling me away slowly as William waited for Pete to make a move.

More of the Dandies came from the alleys, slowly surrounding them. I looked back to Pete once, but he didn’t notice and stood his ground, still glaring daggers at William. “Hanna,” Michael said again, snapping me out of my trance and leading me away again.

We were a few blocks away, heading in the direction of the manor, when I came to my senses.

I wrenched my arm away from Michael and took off running, ignoring his calls after me.

I didn’t stop running until I reached my destination.

“Patrick!” I yelled, pounding on the doors to the warehouse.

“Hanna,” he said, pulling it open. “Where’s Pete?” Tears filled my eyes again, blurring my vision.

“It’s all my fault, Patrick.”
