I Want To Wake Up Where You Are

There he was in Aaron Gillespie’s arms holding a vanilla ice cream cone and smiling brightly. I saw Aaron say something take the ice cream out of Adam’s hands and put him down on the ground where he soon came running up to me jumping into my arms.
“Thanks man” I heard Max say as he shock Aarons hand while I was still embracing my little boy I eventually put him down and he ran over to get his ice cream back off Aaron
“God Aaron thank you so much” I said hugging him
“No worries Anna, he is a little chatter box I had to buy him an ice cream to get him to shut up” he laughed
We said our final thanks to Aaron and I headed back to my bus with Adam in my arms. Once inside I had taken the ice cream from his hands and put him down to sleep. I had ignored Max I didn’t know what to say to him and I think an event that should have brought us closer kind of tore us apart instead.
“Anna talk to me” Max said after I had put Adam down
“What do you want me to say?” I questioned
“Anything just don’t ignore me”
“I don’t know if we should do this Max” I said pointing to the two of us
“But Anna we had fun the other day”
“Max we can’t just act like children when we have a child of our own we just can’t. I can’t let crap like this happen to Adam he means too much to me, I know you have only known him for a little while but this little boy is my life” I exclaimed
“I know this Anna. You say it like I don’t know, I know he is your life and even though I have only known about him for short amount of time I love him as well and I would never do anything that would jeopardize his safety or happiness… or even yours for that matter” he said before storming off the bus and slamming the door behind him.
Now I just feel like dirt.
