‹ Prequel: Everything I'm Not

Love's Requiem

Homesick

So the one thing that I have learned from countless times with Cobra was that they certainly knew how to party, and fully embraced that each night of the tour. What was the downside of that? Well not a whole lot except when we're in a city for a night and they find a Karaoke bar.

"Oh come on Bella it'll be fun." Alex whined trying to pull me out of the bed I was laying on reading.

"So you can go and have enough fun for the both of us."

"Bella you know I'm just going to carry you out right? So if I was you I'd just get ready."

"Fine." I mumbled getting up to get clothes to change in to.

After I changed in to a black tank, grey jeans and a a pair of heels, we headed downstairs to the lobby where everyone else was waiting.

"How'd you get her to go?" Jack asked amazed when he spotted me trailing behind Alex.

"Told her she had no choice." Alex smiled putting an arm around me, "Oh come on Bella it'll
be fun." He laughed when he saw the miserable expression I had on my face.

"As fun as an allergy patch test." I mumbled as we all headed out the lobby and walked to the karaoke bar.

"So Bella Donna, are you going to serenade me tonight?" Gabe asked coming up from behind me.

"First of all it's Bella as in Isabella, I'm not a porn star." I corrected, making Alex laugh. "And secondly I am drinking that's it."

"You can't go to a karaoke bar just to drink."

"Why not it has the word bar in it, doesn't it?"

"So does the word sand bar, and there's no alcohol at those."

"There isn't?"

"I'm not talking about a bar that's on a beach."

"Oh." I nodded still feeling confused. "Still I've come to consume vast amounts of alcohol." I added as we walked in to the place.

And thus began the most entertaining night out of my life, Jack sang "Like a virgin" and crawled on the tables of our room. Alex sang Paula Abdul's "Straight up", and attempted to dance like her which had me in tears.

"Come on Bella, just one song!" Alex pleaded while I took a sip of my beer.

"Negative." I shook my head.

"I'll make a deal with you Bella." Gabe slurred pointing at me.

"This ought to be good."

"You do one song, that's it hell I'll even do it with you and I will play a midtown song in tomorrow's set."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

"You got that on tape right?" I asked their tour manager Danny, who nodded.

"Fine." I sighed getting up from my seat and taking my beer with me.

I went through the book and picked a song, as Gabe threw an arm over my shoulders and laughed when he saw the song.

"Josie's on a vacation far away, come around and talk it over. So many things that I wanna say," Gabe began first.

"You know I like my boys a little bit older, I just want to use your love tonight," I chirped in.

"I don't want to lose your love tonight!" Him and I shouted making everyone laugh as we went on with the song.

"Whoo Bella!" Ryland shouted as everyone howled when it was finished.

"Damn Bella I never knew you could actually sing." Gabe laughed.

"Yeah, yeah I have a voice of an angel, you better play a faulty foundation tomorrow." I told him going back to my seat with Alex. "Happy now?" I asked him.

"Very," Alex laughed as he gave me a kiss.

"Things I do for you." I mumbled.

The downside of that night was dragging both Gabe and Alex back to the whole tell with them both drunker than drunk.

"How are you not drunk?" Vinny asked me in disbelief as he helped me.

"Eastern European, babe." I laughed.

"No kidding man." He laughed as we reached the lobby.

"Should I fuck with these two and put them in the same bed?" I asked him as we got off the elevator on our floor.

"You totally have to!" Rian laughed.

"Done," I smiled as Vinny brought Gabe in to the room Alex and I were sharing.

We took off their shoes and jackets, I took off Alex's jeans and helped him in to a pair of gym shorts while we left Gabe as is.

"Please get me in here before they wake up tomorrow morning." Vinny laughed as he left the room to go to his after we put Alex and Gabe together in one of the beds.

The next morning, I woke up to hearing Gabe and Alex vomiting in the bathroom, one in the garbage can the other in the toilette.

"Having fun boys?" I shouted with my eyes still closed.

"You suck." I heard Alex say before he hurled again, followed by a grunt from Gabe.

A few minutes later Gabe grabbed his shoes and headed to his room taking the garbage can with him.

"My head." Alex groaned pulling the covers over his head.

"Aww princess that's what you get when you think you can out drink me." I cooed, "Come on you have to get up anyway you promised you'd go shopping with me." I added getting out of bed.

"Ugh." He grunted as I headed to take a shower.

An hour later I finally got him up so we could go do some shopping before we had to be at the venue for sound check. While we were out I spotted a tattoo shop, and lately I've been itching to get another one so I went in to see if they took walk-ins as well as if they could fit me in.

"The only time we'd be able to take you would be around 3pm." The guy behind the counter explained.

"I think that could work just give me a sec please." I told him as I flipped open my sidekick to check what was planned for today. At 3 they had an interview so I probably could go, what would suck however is I'd probably be stuck going alone. "That's perfect." I said not wanting to miss a chance with the artist that was here because from the looks of it his work was amazing.

"Alright, see you then." He smiled writing my name in the appointment book.

"I thought we had an interview at three?" Alex asked me while we headed back to the hotel.

"You do."

"So you're going by yourself?"

"I might try and get Vinny to go with me, or maybe Nick if they do their sound check before you."

"Unlikely."

"So maybe Vinny." I said optimistically.

"Please Vinny it'll be the most fun you'll ever have, watching me squirm in pain!" I pleaded while he was setting up the merch.

"Would love to but I'm going to have to pass, that stuff freaks me out." Vinny declined.

"So close your eyes and look away I just need to hold somebody's hand."

"Sorry Bella."

"Damn it." I mumbled.

"Any luck?" Alex asked me as I walked on the bus to get my bag since it was already 2:15.

"Nope." I sighed.

"What's she up to now?" Gabe asked since he was on the bus having Alex listen to Cobra's new album.

"She's going to get a tattoo at three and has no one to go with her." Alex explained.

"I'll go with you."

"No sell outs." I mumbled.

"Bella." Alex said giving me a disproving look.

"Fine," I said giving in to Alex's look. "I'm leaving soon." I told him as I slung my bag across me and zipped up my jacket.

"I'm ready hot stuff." Gabe said getting up.

"Good luck." Alex told me giving me a kiss.

"I love you." I told him giving him another one.

"I love you too, and don't be a dick." He told me giving me a wink as I walked off the bus with
Gabe.

"So where are you getting this masterpiece?" Gabe asked me as we walked down the street.

"Left side." I said moving my hand down the side of my left rib.

"Isn't that going to hurt like a hell?"

"Probably." I nodded as we walked in.

I had left the picture of what I wanted when I stopped in with Alex so they had the tattoo already drawn up and ready for me when Gabe and I got there. I was getting the statue of St. Mary that was in Zagreb.

"So what's the point of this one you don't seem the religious type." Gabe said while I took off
my hoodie and hopped in the chair.

"This is a statue in Zagreb, holds meaning to me." I shrugged as the tattoo artist folded my tank top up and tucked it in to my bra so he could begin to clean my skin.

"Interesting." He nodded.

Gabe held my hand as soon as he saw me wince after the tattoo started, and somehow to distract me we began talking about when we first came to the U.S.

"You're lucky," I frowned gripping his hand tightly. "My parents left for here a year before I did, and then they sent for us a year later."

"How come?" Gabe asked.

"So they could settle in here and get a place for me and my brother to live."

"So where were you?"

"They moved us to Zagreb to stay with my mom's parents since the bombing wasn't near there."

"Wait I thought you were from Zagreb?" He asked confused.

"My mom is, but I was born and grew up in Zadar which is in southern Croatia, well actually
the area is called Dalmatia."

"Like the dogs?" He said in an excited tone.

"Where do you think they came from?"

"Nice." He smirked, as he looked over to see how the tattoo was coming along, "It's looking pretty good." He assured me.

"Tight." I nodded.

Another hour later it was done and I was getting bandaged up.

"Thank you so much." I gushed as I shook the artist's hand.

"No problem, take care." He smiled as he helped me fold my shirt back down and then I put on my hoodie.

"How do you feel?" Gabe asked me as we walked back to the venue.

"Really sore." I chuckled. "Thanks by the way, for coming with me."

"Don't mention, I think for the first time ever we actually had a serious and meaningful conversation." He laughed.

"So how'd it go?" Alex asked hugging me carefully once we got back.

"Good, it came out amazing." I told him, "How'd the interview and sound check go?"

"Fine, fine, things can run smoothly without you running around like a headless chicken you
know Bella." He joked.
