Beneath the Surface

You've got the wrong person

“What are you suggesting Paul?” Teddy spat, rising from his seat and proceeding to pull Ali up by the scruff of his neck.

“Sorry,” Ali taunted, flinching slightly, “Did I touch a nerve?”

Teddy released him.

“You know there’s nothing happening,” he growled.

“Sure Hetherton,” he smirked, “Everyday now.”

Teddy glared at him.

“You’ve got the wrong person.”

“Becky,” Claire shouted along the corridor.

Becky turned to see Claire sprinting towards her.

“You okay?” Claire asked, reaching Becky.

“Why wouldn’t I be?”

“It’s just, I heard Kate yelling at Alex so I naturally went to have a look.”

Becky laughed.

“Then I saw you walking along here looking a bit down.”

“I’m fine,” Becky said, smiling, “Alex is just incredibly irritating. You know that.”

“Who doesn’t?”

Becky rolled her eyes.

“Everyone, except himself and a few friends.”

Claire coughed before grabbing Becky by the arm and hauling her through the nearest door. Closing the door, she turned on the young girl.

“Tell me all the details,” she announced.

“What do you mean?” Becky stammered, “There aren’t any details to tell.”

“It’s obvious you’re hiding something.”

“I’m not, honestly. You’ve got the wrong person.”
