Please Tell Me What We Have Is Real

I'm Just A Kid

"Momma!" My daughter squealed. Today as Madison's first birthday and I was attempting to give her a bath with little success. Half the water was on the floor and I knew Brian would scream if he saw the mess she had made. Just kidding.

"Sweetie, you have to take a bath. You won't be able to see anyone till you do. Or play with Melissa." I told her as I yet again failed to get soap in her hair.

"No." She screamed. I swear she got the stubborness from Brian. I sighed and let her go back to playing with the duckies she had with her.

"I give up." I sighed out as I put the bottle of soap down. Where was Brian?

"Dada." She yelled, before I heard his laugh from behind me.

"Hey babygirl, are you behaving for mommy?" He questioned, walking in the rest of the way and kneeling on the floor next to me.

"NO!" At least she was honest. He laughed and grabbed the shampoo before squirting it in her hair and massaging it through. I just stared in disbelief that it was that easy for him.

"You just have to do it unexpectedly, that way she won't fight you." He said.

"Daddy's girl." I huffed under my breath. He washed it out then drained the water while I got her a towel. After getting her dried of and dressed we headed into the living room were Brian's parents already were waiting.

"About time you guys come down here." Papa Gates said. Suzy just rolled her eyes at him and said hi to us.

"Madi refused to take a bath." I replied sometime later.

"Did not, she just wouldn't for you." Brian stated smugly. Papa Gates got up and smacked him in the back of his head, resulting in all of us laughing.

"Stop bitching boy, everyone's going to be here soon." He said walking towards the backyard. After we calmed down, Brian picked up Madi and walked out after his dad, while the rest of us followed.

Soon enough the guys and girls all showed up, while Melissa and Madison decided to play near us. I always found it funny that Jimmy and Leana had got married after only being together for five months, but in all honesty I could see how much they loved eachother even then. Now they have a kid, Jimmy was one himself at times. Matt decided he was going to grill so we just left him alone and everyone else was lounging about.

"Hey momma." Brian said, momentarily breaking me out of staring at everyone.

"Hey baby, what's up?" I questioned. He motions for me to scoot forward, which I did, and precedes to swing his right leg over so he was sitting behind me. After getting comfortable, he pulled me back and wrapped his arms around my waist. I leaned back into his chest and look at our daughter who is babbling nonsense at Matt who keeps nodding at her.

"I can't believe she's one already." He said some time later.

"I know, it seems like I just had her and now look, we're celebrating her first birthday." I sighed. I was alittle sad, she was growing so fast.

"I know baby, but it's amazing how big she has gotten. Plus, look at everything she can do now." He replied. I nodded. I remember the first time she learned how to walk. Brian and I had been sitting across from eachother with her just crawling around in the middle, when she pulled up on my arms and started slowly moving towards Brian. We both were speechless and excited at the same time.

"Yup." I nodded.

"Foods done!" matt yelled. We all moved to fix up plates for everyone and I got Madison's food for her out of the kitchen. She was way to young to be eating this type of food.

"Unk!" Madison yelled at Johnny. We all turned to see why she was yelling at him and saw that he had moved her food around. I swear. He just grinned at her and put it back. She called the guys unk and the girls ana. It was to cute. After we were all done, we decided to open presents first before letting her eat cake, knowing she would have it everywhere.

"Alright babygirl, time to open up stuff." Brian said grabbing her. I had already wiped her hands off so she wouldn't ruin anything and we all headed towards the living room since it was getting cool outside.

"Okay, this is really for mommy, but it involves you. So, it gets opened first." Brian said dragging in a large box. My jaw dropped.

"Bri? Why." I said. He just laughed and put it in front of me before I tilted my head up to give him a kiss. When I ripped the paper off, I squealed in suprise when I saw it was a new stroller, which I needed since she was to big for hers.

"Thank you baby." I said hugging him. After I quieted down, Madi attempted to rip the rest of the gifts open, mostly the guys, and loved the gifts she recieved.

"Cake time!" Val stated causing all of the guys to stampede into the kitchen. I swear you would think this was for them. When Madi saw her cake she started clapping and then tugged on Zacky's arm.

"What is it princess?" Zacky asked. She pointed to his Mickey tattoo and then her cake. When we realized what we all busted out laughing at how she associated it.

"Great, now my daughter will always see Mickey like that." Brian grumbled. We sang to her, and all the guys decided they just had to help her blow out the one candle on the cake. Once we had the cake handed out, I placed Madison's in front of her, to which she smashed her hands into.

"Your cleaning her up Brian." I said when she was fully covered in cake.

"Oh man." He said when he saw her.

"Sucks to be you man." Jimmy laughed.

"Yeah, well look at your daughter Sullivan." He retaliated. Sure enough, Melissa also was covered.

"Dammit." He said. It never gets old with them.
