A Raindrop in the Ocean

The Driver

I was panicking so I kept driving, I didn't stop to see if the guy I hit was okay. I could hear the sirens blaring behind me. I was being chased, my foot felt heavy and I couldn't lift it off the gas pedal. I was hurtling head first into an intersection.

My life flashed, my mother's eyes, my father's laugh, my brother teasing me, my first kiss, my first tattoo. Things that will never happen, getting married, having children, buying a house, seeing the world, getting drunk, having sex. So much I'll never do, if only I had stopped the car.

Metal crunched and I prayed that there was a heaven for me to go to.
