Scars

Discussion of Dates

Scarlett walked out of her bathroom ready for the day when she noticed her cell phone ringing. Walking over to her dresser she picked it up and saw that Jules was calling. She picked it up and heard her best friends voice fill the hair.

Jules: Scar, what took you so long?
Scarlett: I was drying my hair. What's the dilemma?
Jules: I think we better call off working at the shop today. I got called into work, and Libby just called me to let me know that her grandma came into town unexpectedly. So, wanna wait until tomorrow or something?
Scarlett: Yeah, that'll be good.
Jules: Alright cupcake. I'll talk to you later. By the way, came up with a new bow design, I'll show it to you when I see you. Love you Scar, Bye.

She soon hung up the phone with Jules and walked over to her laptop and booted it up while she walked downstairs and decided that she would get something to drink before checking anything on line. She smiled as she saw her aunt in the kitchen flipping a pancake onto a plate.

Shyla: Hey sweetie. Heading to the shop today?
Scarlett: Nope. The girls are busy, so I'm just gonna spend a relaxing day in my room doing what I do best.
Shyla: Let me guess typing and texting your fingers off to anyone who will talk to you?
Scarlett: Of course, it's what I do best.

She giggled as her aunt placed a plate with two pancakes in front of her. Smiling she got up and poured herself a class of orange juice and sit down on the stool and began eating along with her aunt.

Scarlett: Aunt Shy, What's the Joker going to do now?
Shyla: I don't know sweetie. He's a man without a plan. I just wish he'd be placed behind bars again.
Scarlett: Me too. I'm scared for Uncle Car.
Shyla: Oh sweetie, don't worry about your uncle. He is capable of taking care of himself.

Scarlett only nodded her head as she finished up her pancakes and placed her plate into the sink. She grabbed a bottle of water out of the refrigerator and walked back up the stairs and into her bedroom. Walking over to her computer desk she smiled at her desk top when she was greeted by a picture of The Jackass cast. She opened up her browser and checked all of her things on line (myspace, buzznet, email) and then signed onto her messengers looking for someone to occupy her time with.

Two of the boys looked at the screen as they waited for her name to appear. Suddenly the name they had been waiting for showed in the bottom of the screen "Scars On line". Happy raised his eyebrow wondering why she had her name on message as scars but then decided it'd be best to inform the boss.

" BOSS. SHE'S ON LINE "

Happy screamed getting The Joker's attention from the room over. He got up from his chair and walked into the room and over to where the two boys was sitting in front of a laptop that had just been stolen from a teenage boys home only hours ago. Happy had set up fake information, figuring that she would reply to someone on a messenger quicker than she would to someone by email or a phone number she didn't recognize. Plus, The Joker knew that the mob was probably protecting their families. This was really his only way in without being noticed.

Joker: Get up.

He ordered the two boys. Dopey got up quickly but Happy looked at the boss for a minute not understanding why he wanted him to leave. Happy was the computer expect and the one who had basically set up everything. He thought he'd be the one behind all of the computer related activities since he had never even heard The Joker mention any sort of technology.

Happy: Boss, do you need me to show you how to--
Joker: I can handle it from here.

He said pointing a gun to his head. Soon the two boys walked out of the room quickly. He looked down at the lap top setting in front of him and pulled off his glove and cracked his fingers. He knew that in order for his plan to work he was going to need to get close to this girl and quick. He would need to gain her trust, he just hoped his words did the thing. He began typing a hello message into the screen.

Scarlett was looking around myspace when a window on MSN popped up. The name was just gunpowerandbombs@email.com. The person clearly just got the account set up since they didn't seem to have any information settled in. Intrigued by the name she said hello.

(Instant Message Window)
Scars: Hi. Do I know you?
Gunpowderandbombs: No, I just randomly found you. Hope you don't mind.
Scars: Not at all. What's your name?

He raised his eyebrow wondering what to put. He could easily give her a fake name and hope that he remembered it encase he later had to repeat it or he could give her his name. It's not as if she was going to live to tell anyone that Jack Napier was the Joker anyways.

Gunpowderandbombs: Jack.
Scars: Nice to meet you, Jack. New to this whole chat thing or something. You should change your screen name from your email to something else.

Confused as to what she was asking he yelled for one of his men to come in. Happy explained that she was basically telling him to change the long screen name to something shorter. Once he changed that he ordered them to leave once again and he got back to business. He couldn't help but to stare at the picture on the window. It was of her with a bright smile across her face.

Scars: Much better.
Jack: I guess so.
Scars: So where do you live?
Jack: Gotham City.
Scars: Shut up! Me too.

Scarlett couldn't believe that someone from Gotham had messaged her. She was excited to finally meet someone on line from the same city she had. Normally she would always meet a friend who was miles and miles away, but Jack was from the same city as her. That alone made her want to get to know him more. The Joker smiled as he and the girl continued to switch messages back and forth. He never would've imagined for such a young and pretty girl that she would also be as intelligent as she was. He talked to her as if she was an actual person, instead of a soon to be victim. They shared stories, details, and events that had happened in each of their lives. He though, leaving out the most important detail of all. The fact that he was Gotham's most dangerous criminal was yet to be brought up, and it wasn't going to be.

He read her message about her family and frowned a bit, then mentally cursing himself for feeling sympathy for one second. Laughing then, seeing as how he's stooped this low just to find get a victim. But he wanted her to trust him. By the looks of how this was going, he could have Miss Scarlett meet him anywhere he wanted, and then just when she least expected it The Joker would emerge and take her away from everything she knew and loved.

Scars: Jeepers, I can't believe that The Joker escaped Arkham again. That place is such a joke!

A smile curved into his lips seeing as how she mentioned his name. He began typing again, wondering what exactly she thought about him. Figuring that when she was struggling for her last breathe he could use the sentences against her.

Jack: I take it you hate the Joker?
Scars: Hate is a strong word. I don't know him, but he sure doesn't seem like too nice of a person.
Jack: Does he scare you?
Scars: He's a man who puts clown make-up on his face. If that isn't scary then I don't know what is!
Jack: Yeah.. a bit of a freak, I'd say.

Scarlett raised an eyebrow as Jack typed. She wondered why he had started a conversation about The Joker. She let a yawn escape her lips as she looked over at the clock and realized it was 10 p.m. She couldn't believe she had been talking to him for nearly seven hours. Time had flew by.

Scars: Well Jack. I must say it was a pleasure talking to you. But I'm going to get off of here for awhile. Maybe we'll chat again?
Jack: I'm sure we will, doll face.

She exited off everything and used her bathroom before crawling under the covers. She couldn't help but to feel a bit giddy. Jack seemed like a very interesting individual although she still didn't know some things about him such as a last name, what he looked like, or even age and occupation. She made a mental note to herself to find out all of those things the next time they chatted.

The Joker yawned walking out of the room. He couldn't believe that he had managed to sit there so long without wanting to shoot someone. He was putting more effort into the capture of Scarlett than he had into any other capture in his entire life. He wondered if it would just be easier to go and kidnap her from the house instead of trying to break into the girl's mind and gain her trust. But what would be the fun in just kidnapping her and killing her off? This way he would get to play a few mind games as he went along.

Scarlett opened the door to the shop and walked inside. Jules and Libby was going to be meeting her soon so they could fix the shelves just the way they wanted. She walked over and began dusting the shelves waiting for them to show up. She was happy with the way the paint had dried, it really did bring a whole new life to the buildings interior. She turning around hearing the door open and smiled when Jules and Libby walked in.

Libby: So we gonna get started or what?
Jules: We better hurry. I've got work in four hours.
Scarlett: Again? Gosh, Jules. They over work you don't you think.
Jules: I need the money. Not everyone has a rich uncle who gives them anything they want.

Scarlett just rolled her eyes and playfully flipped Jules off as they all began packing a shelf to the corner of the room and placed it up against the green wall. The Shelf was white, and Libby had the idea that they could display all of their bows on it.

Jules: I just wish we could open it already.
Libby: We have so much work left to do.
Scarlett: We'll get it done soon, stop worrying.

Just as the girls was about to call it a day Zeke Maroni walked into the shop. Scarlett rolled her eyes hearing him walk in and then turned around to face him. He was decked out in his cop outfit, even though she was well aware that he didn't belong in it. He was probably the most corrupt cop in all of Gotham but yet the town loved him because they believed he done no wrong.

Zeke: Hey ladies. Nice to see such beauties opening up a friendly place in Gotham.
Jules: What do you want, Zeke?
Zeke: Now is that any way to talk to a commanding officer, Julia?
Jules: I'm outta, girls.

Julia hated Zeke with a passion, she didn't like the fact that he thought his shit smelled like roses. She soon picked up her belongings and made an exit for the door.

Zeke: She really need to start acting like a lady.
Scarlett: What are you doing here, Zeke?
Zeke: I came to ask you out to dinner tonight.
Scarlett: I've told you a hundred times that I don't think you and I will work.
Zeke: But you have yet to give it a chance. I've told you. One date and then I'll leave you alone.
Libby: I'm gonna go too. I'll see you later Scars.

Soon Libby left and Scarlett rolled her eyes not believing that Libby left her alone with this baboon. Zeke adjusted the belt around his waist that held his gun perfectly in place as Scarlett just turned around and tried to place some more shelves into place, hoping that he would get the idea that she didn't want to talk to him and leave. Just as she was about to turn around she felt two strong hands resting on her hips and hot breathe on her neck. Closing her eyes she turned around and let her crystal blue ones meet his green ones. Even Scarlett admitted that Zeke was a gorgeous guy, if only his personality was as nice as his looks.

Zeke: One date. That's all I'm asking for. If I screw up, or you don't have a good time then I'll leave you alone.
Scarlett: Zeke, I really don't think that...

She was cut off by Zeke pressing his lips down on hers. He had adored Scarlett for years, and had been begging her for the last year to let him take her out. She was the only thing in his life that he tried to be truthful towards, although his sneaky and cocky personality always got in the way. Scarlett placed her hands on his chest and pushed away from the kiss.

Zeke: One date, Scarlett.
Scarlett: Then you'll leave me alone?
Zeke: I promise, then I'll leave you alone.

She nodded her head and Zeke let a smile form on to his lips, and then walked away from her. Telling her that he would soon call her so they could set up their date. She was disappointed in herself, but truly she was just sick of his constant asking her out. She might as well go ahead and get it over with, at least then he would be off her back and leave her alone. She just hopped her cousin Chad didn't hear about it, or he'd probably punch Zeke's lights out and end up in jail.

As Scarlett was locking up the door and walking to her car she couldn't help but to let her mind wonder to Jack. She wondered what part of Gotham he lived in. How old is he? What's his last name? What color hair does he have? Is he tall? What does he do? Is he in a relationship or single? She didn't know why but something about him had intrigued her and she was dying to find out more about him. He just seemed like one giant puzzle that she needed to figure out.
