chapter four
Toni and this guy sat on the stair near his door. They did nothing but stare at the ground beneath them. Toni didn’t want to be there but appreciated the silence. It had been a while since she was I a subtle environment, especially when her brother was around. He would talk as if there was no tomorrow. Everything around him was fascinating. Even when their day couldn't get any more worst, he seemed to bring a smile to Toni’s face. She couldn’t stand the thought of her brother. So she decided to say something before she could feel the pain.
“What’s your name?”
She rolled her eyes inwardly. She really didn’t want to know.
“It’s Gerard.” He bluntly replied.
He was too caught up looking at her dress attire to ask her the question back. It wasn’t like she wanted to tell him. There was no way she was from New Jersey, he thought. She had long bleach blonde hair a few inches past her shoulders. She wore a fitted t-shirt with blue surf trunks and vans. It was like looking at someone from another planet.
“Well, It doesn’t look like the rain is stopping anytime soon.” Said Gerard, he took another blow of his cigarette before putting it out with his foot.
Toni just sighed not knowing what to do next.
As much as Toni would love to deny it, Gerard knew she was helpless. He couldn’t leave the poor girl on his doorstep. There were people looking to beat the shit out of her.
“Come on, I’ll give you a ride.”
“You don’t have to, I can find my way.”
“It’s raining like dog shit outside and you’re lost,” he said trying to convince her.
Toni just stared off not wanting to say yes.
“…and you're in jersey with people coming after you…”
She just sighed in defeat. There was no way she was going to risk getting her face smashed in.
“You coming?”
“Uhg, yeah.”
“Don’t be so grumpy.”
Toni evilly glared at him. She wishes he would shut up.
She ran through the rain getting in the car after him. This guy could have been a total creep, but she didn’t care. She was just glad she had a ride.
“Where did you come from? You’re definitely not from around here. ”
He asked pulling out the drive way.
“You don’t know. I could live down the street.”
“But you’re lost.”
“I have amnesia.”
“Sucks for you,”
Toni was starting to grow tired of his smart remarks. But she was throwing the same one back at him. So she just mumbled under her breathe.
“Let me guess, you’re from California.”
Toni didn’t want to be the one to say he was right. In stead she turned to look out side the window.
“Ahh, I’m fucking right.”
She just clenched her teeth together trying to ignore his laughter.
“Now how did you figure that one out smart ass?”
“What do you- Your hair, your shorts. Who in the fucking hell wears swim trunks, in New Jersey?”
Now she was really getting annoyed by this guy. Who did he think he was telling her where she was from. She knew he was right though and that’s what pissed her off the most. Gerard saw how pissed she looked and apologized. She just told him he didn’t have to be a pussy about the whole thing. He found himself amused by everything she said. He thought she was hilarious.
Toni then saw Eyeball sitting on top of his car under the car shed drinking a beer. It was God Himself.
“Stop the car, Stop the car.” She tapped furiously at Gerard’s arm.
Toni hoped out the car before he could come to a complete stop.
Then she turned around opening the car door.
“Resistance is playing tonight at ten on Godeffroy street. Tell a friend.”
