A secret revealed and something more to her pain
~A few days later~
Niana sat in her bedroom waiting for Akira to come and pick her up from school. She had barely talked ever since she got out of the hospital a few nights ago. Jasper hadn't talked to her as much and had been leaving for hours on end. She wasn’t sure what was going on with him but she had a feeling it wasn’t good. She gazed out of her bay window and watched the clouds pass by. The wind gently brushed her hair around her but she ignored it. She was too lost in thought about what had been happening over the past few months and just wanted to disappear. Her two best friends found out that she wasn’t really an Angel but a Monster of the night. She had ended up in the hospital and almost hurt Akira....almost killed him.
She felt like her whole world was coming down around her. And she had felt even worse when Akira tried to tell her that he dumped Momo for her but Michiro had taken her aside on day and told her what had really happened between the two. Its not like that made her feel any better about what had happened only because it had happened because of her.
~Down in the Kitchen~
Ivy sat at the island and stared down at her coffee. This was normal for Niana. To lock herself away from the world after her friends found out her secret. But something was making it much much worse this time. Ivy was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t even hear the side door open and Michiro wish her good morning. It was then that Jared walked in and smiled at Michiro
“Good morning Michiro, where is Akira this morning?”
“Well you see….he met another girl and wanted to walk her to school and forgot about Niana so I ran all the way here to get her” Michiro explained. At this, Jared lost his smile and let out a sigh before looking at his wife
“Has Nia come down at all this morning?”
“No, she’s been locked in her room. Something is wrong with her”
“I know but we must giver her time to calm herself. Michiro, you may go up to her room to get her if you wish” Jared told him as he turned his attention from his wife to the wolf demon. Michiro nodded, placed his bag down by the door and rushed up the stairs to Niana’s room.
Michiro had knocked on her door a couple of times and then walked in to see Niana sitting at her bay window watching the clouds slowly drift by. He sighed only because he knew what was going through her mind and felt bad for her.
“Nia” he called to her gently making her snap out of her thoughts and turn to him
“Michi, what are you doing here? Where is Akira?”
“He met another girl and wanted to walk her to school”
“He forgot about me”
“No no no no” Michiro answered too quickly but once Niana looked down at her hands, he knew that she caught him in his lie. He walked over to her, grabbed her hands gently and slowly pulled her up
“Come on Ni Ni, let’s get to school before we’re late. It’s my turn to show you my secret” he smiled. Niana had looked at him confused but then smiled once they started walking downstairs.
Once they had reached the kitchen, both Jared and Ivy were shocked to see a smile on their daughters face. Jared smiled at Michiro and gave him approving nod. Niana didn’t catch the gesture which was a relief but Michiro turned his attention to Niana and smiled gently
“Are you ready to go Nia?”
“Of course” she told him. She had then turned to her parents, said her goodbyes and walked out of the house with Michiro by her side. Once they were outside, Michiro stopped in front of her
“Are you ready to know what I really am?”
“What do you mean?” Niana asked as she tilted her head slightly. Michiro moved closer to her so that their bodies were touching. Niana had started to say something but Michiro had cut her off by bringing his lips to her ear
“I’m not human Ni Ni. I’m a wolf Demon” he whispered. Niana’s eyes widened with shock as he moved away from her. But once they were moved apart, Niana noticed that he still had that same goofy smile on his face.
She was speechless. He laughed gently and shook his head as he crouched down
“Get on my back”
“But Michi”
“No, I want to prove it to you” he told her. She didn’t argue and climbed on his back. Michiro took a hold of Niana, stood up and ran at top speed. Niana had to wrap her arms around his neck to make sure she wouldn’t fall off. She could hear him laugh at her reaction but kept her eyes closed.
Suddenly, they came to a stop and Michiro let her down carefully and turned to her.
“Michi. That was….Amazing” she giggled. Michiro laughed as he shook his head
“Come on Nia, lets get inside before we’re late for class” he instructed as he took her head and walked with her to their class.
~At lunch~
Niana and Michiro had met under the Sakura tree and ate their lunches. Well, Niana was picking at her food while Michiro watched her.
“What’s wrong?”
“Akira”
“He’s having lunch with his new love. Come on, no worries. He never stays with them for long”
“I know, but remember what he told Momo?”
“About?”
“About how no new flame comes before me?”
“Yeah. Where is this going?”
“This is going to sound selfish but technically he lied, didn’t he? He’s putting her before me” Niana explained as she lowered her head. Michiro swallowed the food in his mouth and sighed
“Nia, you’re not being selfish”
“But I am. I shouldn’t have said anything” Tears started to roll down her eyes as she placed her food down and stood up
“I’m sorry Michi” she whispered and ran off. Niana had ended up running past Akira and Alexa and managed to catch Akira’s attention. He stood up and watched as Niana ran off. Michiro ran over next to Akira and hit him upside the head
“Ow, what the hell was that for?”
“This time, it’s your fault she’s hurt. I hope you feel better” Akira looked at Michiro and watched the hate build up in his eyes
“How is this my fault?”
“You forgot about her this morning, you refused to talk or even look at her. And now you don’t even eat with her. Have you forgotten about our promise to each other?” Michiro asked as anger flowed through his voice. Akira looked back in the direction Niana ran off in and then back at Michiro
“I’m not going to fix this one for you. This is something you need to do” Michiro glared at him one last time and ran after Niana.
~Outside the school grounds~
He sat in a tree and watched the scene from afar. So far, his little puppet was doing her job. What he wondered though, was how much longer was it going to take Kitara to do the same thing to the wolf.
