New Years Eve:

Tonight we were all performing in Time Square. Eric and I have been…off…lately. I yelled at him about talking to Nick the way he did and we got into this fight. But whatever. I was way too excited to be down.

“Hey Nick. Guess what?!” I yelled excitedly, over the other people around us, waiting for the ball to drop at midnight.

“What Rea?” he laughed.

“We’re performing in Time Square,” I squealed.

“I know we are,” he laughed again.

“Guess what else,” I said as I was bouncing on my feet.

“What?”

“You’re on,” I whispered and his eyes grew.

“I am? What?” he asked in a panic and I nudged him toward the stage so then he got up there with Joe and Kevin and Miley got to my side as we watched them all perform Hold On.

Then they finished. “Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome our friends, Miley Cyrus and Rachael Lewis!” Joe announced the noise got louder as Miley and I got on the stage. They all started to play ‘We Got The Party’ and Miley started singing.

We finished and were escorted off the stage. We watched the other performances and soon enough it came close to midnight…but I realized Nick and I were lost in the crowd. We had disguises on and since we were surrounded by hundreds of people we blended in. Nick grabbed my hand and put a small amount of force in it. I looked at him.

“I just don’t want to lose you,” he smiled.

You could never lose me, is what I wanted to say…but didn’t. We got to the countdown as we both looked up at the ball and everyone began chanting.

“Fifteen, fourteen, thirteen…” He’s with Miley…but they’re breaking up.

“Ten, nine, eight…” I’m still with Eric…but I’m breaking up with him.

“Six, five four…” I think I still love Nick.

“…two, one! Happy New Year!” everyone cheered and couples began to share kisses as kids were jumping up and down, just smiling and yawning.

I looked at Nick and smiled at him as he smiled back and I kissed his cheek. We pulled apart and our faces were inches away…I noticed he was leaning in…and I was just standing there…waiting. But then I was turned around and there stood Eric.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” he yelled but it was more directed at Nick.

“We weren’t doing anything!” I shouted back at him as I ripped his hand off me.

“It sure didn’t look like anything”

“I kissed his cheek, that’s it”

“Can I talk to you Rachael…alone” he urged and Nick looked at me, waiting for a response.

“It’s okay…just give me a few minutes” I said and he nodded and walked off, shutting his eyes as he passed by Eric.

“Eric, you have to stop being so jealous all the time” I said in aggravation.

“Well how can I do that if my girlfriend is all over some other guy?”

“He’s not some other guy, he’s Nick, and I’m not all over him”

“Doesn’t look that way to me” he said, smugly.

“Well I’m sorry if you don’t like the fact that miss my best friend”

“Rach, I don’t mind the fact that you miss him and you like hanging out with him all the time…but there are some times where you have me…”

“Eric…I…”

“Just…save it…okay?…I’ll talk to you later” was all he said…as he started walking away.

I felt tears make there way to my eyes but I wouldn’t let them fall…not here. “You okay?” Nick asked and I just nodded.

“Come on” he said and wrapped his arm around my waist as we started walking to the others.
