Little Ghost Girl

Written for Address In The Stars' Your Spirit Haunts Me Contest

Karin had only been a little girl when she ran away from me, from the life the city offered her. I had never seen eye to eye with her, and not because she had been born blind. Despite all I had done for her, all I had tried to do, she still left.

I hadn't heard from Karin in years, now she is deceased, and I an old woman. Never thinking I'd have to attend my own child's funeral, I drove out into the countryside to examine the house she left me. I hated the countryside, and had never understood Karin's unfathomable love for it.

Who would have known that my blind little daughter would teach me what it really meant to see?
