"Thanks for dinner dad it was great." I said putting my plate into the sink.

"Yeah, I guess take out is the best for dinner." he said and laughed.

My mom was talking with Solomon's mom. They had a lot in common. Sonny's parents were kind of confused to what they were talking about. I walked by the window and saw Solomon standing on my back porch staring at the sunset. I walked up beside him.

"Pretty nice huh?" I asked him.

"What... yeah." he said looking at it.

"So crazy week we had huh?" I asked him.

"Yeah, I'm really sorry about my brother and everything." Solomon said.

"Don't worry, I'm not traumatized too much." I said.

"I know but what he did to you was..." he said.

"Horrible... it's okay, I'm okay. Stuff like that happens. I just got to live expecting the unexpected." I said to him crossing my arms and leaning on the railing.

"So you're probably done with kids. I mean wanting them." he said.

"I didn't say I wouldn't have kids but not until the far future. I mean, I'll have to find a nice guy, a nice house maybe I want two or three kids when I'm older like fourty or something." I said.

He laughed.

"Well I hope you find your nice guy." he said and looked at me and smiled.

I looked back at him.

"Maybe I found him but never knew it was him until now?" I asked him.

"What you said when I was near dead about loving me.... is that true or were you using love as a revival method?" he asked me.

I looked back at the sunset.

"I don't know I think I meant it as the truth. Maybe I do love you. Maybe we can start at really like though. I mean I want to take things slow with you if that's the case I mean." I said to him.

"We're going to be making a lot of people angry." he said.

"What do you mean?" I asked him.

"A Guardian and a Phoenix that's like Apples and Oranges." he said.

"But together they make a great drink." I said.

"Good point." he said and laughed.

We were quiet kind of awkward us being together. Protector and protected.

"So." I said.

"Um." he said.

"You go first." I said to him.

"Yeah, just thanks for like saving me when I fell." he said.

"Yeah you saved me too turning into a dragon and all." I said and smiled.

I turned to him. I wondered what he would do if I leaned in.

"Do, you want to... I mean?" he asked me.

"Nothing fast." I said.

"I promise." he said.

He leaned in and kissed me and something weird happened and we pulled away. My cheek turned red.

"Sorry, about the fork tongue, I can't control it sometimes." Solomon hissed.

"No it's not that." I said to him.

"What?" he asked me.

"It just reminded me of something." I said shaking my head.

"Oh, him." he said quietly looking down.

I touched his arm.

"It's not you I swear it isn't." I said.

"You just got to relax I mean it was traumatic right. We should take it really slow start over as friends. Okay?" he asked and stuck his hand out.

"Okay." I said and shook his hand and we smiled.

"Hey what are you guys doing out here?" Sonny asked.

Mixie followed Sonny out and hopped on top of her my leg. I rubbed her head.

"Nothing, just talking." I said.

"So when can you take that cast off?" Sonny asked.

"After everyone in school signs it." he said.

"What's going to be your story since you can't tell them the truth?" I asked.

"I fell down the stairs or I was hit by a Mac Truck." he said.

"I like the second choice but it sounds a little impossible to survive." Sonny said.

"Yeah I'll go with falling. Plus I think I'm going back to my nerd routine." Solomon said putting his eye glasses back on.

"You didn't hear me say anything about you in the pass did you?" Sonny asked laughing uneasily.

"I heard every word. Anyway I'm going back to my old routine to stay under the radar." Solomon said.

"Cool, so anyway we're eating cake now come join us." she said going back into the house.

Solomon held out his hand.

"Friend?" he asked me.

"Friend." I said grabbing it and we walked into the house Mixie following close behind.
