These Things Have Changed

His songs.

The music ended and the crowd cheered and hollered. I smiled taken back. I didn’t think they’d like it so much. I laughed for a moment and then took a sip of water. “Okay thanks everyone! This one is called Believe In Me.” I said as I sat down on the stool they had brought back out to me. After singing the lyrics I had come up with back in condo by the beach with the music Nick had come up with I took my bows and waved as the lights went black. I took a deep breath and walked off the stage. “Wow that was amazing!” The guy said undoing my mic. “Thanks” I said rather breathless. “Seems to me that Nicholas has a bit of groveling to do” someone said from behind me, I twisted around and saw Joe standing there getting hooked up. “Ha. He doesn’t have to do anything.” I said to him. “How could you do that!?” was whispered harshly in my ear from behind me. I didn’t have to turn to see who it was. “You had it coming!” I shouted softly back in face. “Don’t you dare expect me to ever speak to you again.” He said lowly so only I could hear. “Did you listen to the song at all Nick? This is what I’m talking about!” I said shoving him gently. I walked away back to the room that had my dress. I quickly changed back into my black dress and silver heels. I pulled my hair to the side like it previously had been and put in my earings on my way back down the hall. I quickly made it across the row of seats and sat down between Mitchel and Nicole. “So do you think you may have been a little to….” “No.” I said to Nicole. “Okay.” She said backing off. I watched as a few celebritys won their own awards and said thank you. Soon though Lauren Conrad and Broady Jenner were up there. “Well as we all know these boys have been taking the country by storm.” Lauren said. “Their faces are everywhere. You can’t get away.” Broady said. “These boys can do no harm. The only crime the can be charged with is stealing thousands of girls hearts across the world.” Lauren said smiling. “I don’t know sounds like someone is in a bit of trouble with a certain someone else…” Broady joked and everyone laughed. I smiled laughing because I know the camera would probably be on me. “Well here they are, the Jonas Brothers with two new songs!” He shouted and then their music started. “Was I that obvious?” I asked quietly. “Yeah,” Mitchel said from beside me. “whoops.” I said as the lights started to come up over the boys. Nick was playing the piano. Great it’s a sad song. “This song was written for a former friend of mine who had been going threw a rough patch. It’s called Her Diamonds.” Nick said starring at me when he said the word former I rolled my eyes.

Oh what the hell she says
I just can't win for losing
And she lays back down

“Did he just say hell?” Nicole whispered to me. I didn’t respond. Why did that sound so familiar?

Man there's so many times
I don't know what I’m doin'
Like I don't know now

I quietly gasped. “Did this really happen?” Mitchel asked me quietly. I only nodded as I listened to the rest and remembered that night.

By the light of the moon
She rubs her eyes
Says it's funny how the night
Can make you blind
I can just imagine
And I don't know what I’m supposed to do
But if she feels bad then I do too
So I let her be

I started to get the prickling feeing behind my eyes, the tears were trying to come out but pinched my wrist in protest. I saw Joe and Kevin join in the chorus singing in the background.

And she says oooh
I can't take no more
Her tears like diamonds on the floor
And her diamonds bring me down
Cuz I can't help her now
She’s down in it
She tried her best and now she can't win it's
Hard to see them on the ground
Her diamonds falling down

She sits down and stares into the distance
And it takes all night
And I know I could break her concentration
But it don't feel right
By the light of the moon
She rubs her eyes
Sits down on the bed and starts to cry
And there's something less about her
And I don't know what I’m supposed to do
So I sit down and I cry too
But don't let her see

So he did cry that night. Well don’t I feel like the biggest bitch in the world right now.

And she says oooh
I can't take no more
Her tears like diamonds on the floor
And her diamonds bring me down
Cuz I can't help her now
She’s down in it
She tried her best and now she can't win it's
Hard to see them on the ground
Her diamonds falling down

She shuts out the night
Tries to close her eyes
If she can find daylight
She’ll be all right
She’ll be all right
Just not tonight

I remember him saying that to me. He looked over at me and sang the chorus to me. I bit my lip and looked down.

And she says oooh
I can't take no more
Her tears like diamonds on the floor
And her diamonds bring me down
Cuz I can't help her now
She’s down in it
She tried her best and now she can't win it's
Hard to see them on the ground
Her diamonds falling down

“Wow. That was really good.” Nicole whispered. She looked at me when I didn’t answer. “Al?” She questioned. I nodded and lifted my head up and clapped along with everyone else and sniffed. Mitchel rubbed my knee and I looked over and smiled at him while wiping a stray tear that got away. “You okay?” He asked. “I’m perfectly fine.” I said smiling at him and then looking back as Joe got my attention. “Alright now it’s time to speed things up here.” He said as the music started.

You had your chance
there's no reason to cry about it now
You changed your plans
hope that's still more important to you now
No, I don't wanna talk

Nick was singing again and I sighed knowing this song was directed towards me.

You better know that this is all your fault
I hope you know that this is all your fault

He sang pointing at me. I laughed and shook my head. “Copier.” I mumbled to Nicole and she laughed.

You can't look back
all that stuff doesn't matter anymore
You're way off track
You better know that this is all your fault
I hope you know that this is all your fault
You better know that this is all your fault
I hope you know that this is all your fault

His brothers sang together and I looked at Kevin who gave me a sorry glance. I nodded and he smiled.

Why do you think about it?
Why do you sing about it?
Why do you care at all?
Man, I don't know what I can say
it's like she can't appreciate me
And it makes me feel so damn small

“Did he just say damn?” Mitchel asked. “Mhm. Looks like someone’s growing up” Nicole said. “Disney is going to pissed” Mitchel said and I just starred at Nick who was starring at me.

I try to tell you, but I've got no voice
and you won't listen, so I have no choice
It's time for you to move on without me
Just don't forget that this is all

He walked towards the other end of the stage with his guitar but then whipped back around and pointed out to me with that famous Jonas smirk but this one purely powered by anger.

All your fault
All your fault
You can't come back
things could never be the same as before
Can't have me anymore

Joe sang the last part and I saw as a camera was coming towards me so I bobbed my head along to the beat and pretended to know the words.

You say I'm going nowhere
and that's what makes me keep dreaming
You wish I would just shut up
and that's what makes me keep screaming
You tell me to watch my step
instead, I'm falling out of love
I thought you were all that I had
but without you I've got it all

Nick pointed back out to me and I had the sensation to punch him square in the face. I never once said any of those things!

It's all your fault
All your fault
You better know that this is all your fault
I hope you know that this is all your fault
Why do you think about it?
Why do you sing about it?
Why do you care at all?

Kevin and Joe sang together.

Man, I don't know what else to say
it's like she can't appreciate the things
She knows will make her feel so tall
I try to tell you, but I've got no voice
and you won't listen, so I have no choice
It's time for you to move on without me
Just don't forget that this is all your fault

He ended staring at me, no smile, no sly grin, just a death glare. The lights went dead as the place erupted in shouts and screams for the boys. “Nicole you better hold me back at that party tonight. I might say something I will totally regret.” I said to her looking on as an award was given. “Alright…but you got to admit those were both good songs” She said smiling at me. I starred at her. “Or not.” She said sinking down into her seat. My phone vibrated and I looked at it. Back off. My jaw dropped as I looked at who it was from. I looked over at her and she starred at me. Of what!? I typed back. My boyfriend. I lost him to you once. I don’t need to do it again. I read it and laughed. I just didn’t respond as the boys sat back down. “Good job. Really loved them” I said smiling at the three. “Really?” Nick asked with a fake grin on his face leaning forward as I was. “Yep. Oh especially the second one. Real catchy.” I said with a big cheesy grin. “Good cause it was written about you” He said then sitting back. I went to stand up but Mitchel pushed my legs back down and I sat back with a humph. I really hate him.
