I'd Photocopy All the Things That We Could Be, If You Took the Time to Notice Me
Not So Much As An Innocent Visit
Mom placed her hand on my forehead, while she sat on the edge of my bed. Her hands moved to my cheeks. "Well, Gerard. You're not feverish." she claimed. "You don't have to have a fever to be sick." I said turning over on my side. "Is there something you're not telling me, honey. Something you're trying to avoid by staying home from school." she questioned. Seriously, there's no trust between mother and son anymore is there? "What could I possibly be trying to avoid?" I countered. She sighed. "Oh, I don't know. A test, a presentation, a girl."
"No, mom. I'm not interested in any of the girls from school. And that feeling cuts both ways." I argued. My mom sighed. "I'll call the school." she finally gave up. Mikey walked in after she had closed the door. "What? You're not coming to school?" I pulled the covers up over my head as a response.
...
The morning went by slowly and eventually afternoon came. It was sorta nice not having to go to school. No little brother to annoy you during lunch. No preps to make fun of you. No homework. No effort needed. I liked being able to sleep in. In fact, I didn't wake up until sometime after noon. When I did wake up fully, I gathered up some clothes to take a shower. I dried off, got dressed and went downstairs where mom was fixing lunch. "You hungry? I can whip you up something if you'd like." I shook my head. I only went downstairs to grab my art supplies and once I had them I went back to my room.
...
My mom got up off the couch as she heard a knock on the door. She opened it. "May I help you." she asked nicely. "Um, is Gerard here? Does Gerard Way live here." someone asked. "Yeah, I'm his mom. Um, why don't you come in while I get him." My mom invited her in. "What's your name?" she asked. "City." she introduced. She looked around the place. "You have beautiful house." she stated. "Thank you. You're are so nice. Why don't you make yourself comfortable, and I'll go get him." she left to go upstairs but I came down before she made it. "What's going on?" I asked. City turned her attention to me and smiled. "I have your homework. The teacher told me to drop it off since I live right by you."
"Is that the only reason you stopped by?" I asked when we were up in my room. "Um, actually, I came to talk to you." she claimed. "So talk." I said simply. "Well, um, are you feeling better?" she avoided the topic she really wanted to talk about. "Now that you mention it, I have this feeling down in the pit of my stomach, that I've used someone or something." I sent. "Gerard I didn't use-I didn't mean to use you. I wanted that rumor to stop. If it makes you feel better, that kiss meant nothing to me." she immediately wanted to take that back.
"I didn't mean it like that!" she covered, or at least tried. "That's great, City, really. You'll go down as the most popular girl in school, whereas I'll go down as the guy who got used by the most popular girl in school" I left the room to enter the kitchen. She followed. "Gerard I'm sorry." she proclaimed. Un-huh. "Gerard listen to me!" she slammed closed the cabinet I had just opened. She dropped the homework down on the counter. "I give up," she paused and headed for the front door. "Where are you going?" I asked. She stopped for a minute, but kept going. "City!"
"I'm going home. Its, Its obvious you don't want me around." She opened the door. She was taken aback when she saw Mikey coming up the steps, but just walked around him.
