The bell to end another day of school rang in the halls of the school. I was anxious to get a text from Kimi telling me about her punishment. The teacher dismissed the class and I put my supplies in my backpack.

I didn’t need to go by my locker so I just headed toward the front doors. My school is different from most. My school’s cell phone policy is that you can have a phone just don’t mess with it in class. The phone can be used in the halls when passing class or in the restroom.

My phone began ringing “Crazy” by Aerosmith.

The ring tone was for Kimi when she texted me. She chose the song since according to her “it is the only good music on your phone.”

I opened my sidekick to find she sent me a text message.

Hey my punishment aint bad. 2 days sus & another 2ISS. Mom aint groundin me, I told her I helped a friend ;) Text me l8er about your mom’s homecoming, l8erJ

I smiled at her message. I felt a little better about the whole the fight. Atleast her mom is nice enough to believe her about me. The woman is so sweet; sometimes I wish I had her mom instead of my own.

I decided to text her back.

That’s gr8. I really don’t think I was worth u getting n trouble over. Atleast you still have your phone. Just text me during school, the place is hell without u. I’ll text u l8er about my mom. Tlk l8erJ

I closed my phone as I came to the front door. I pushed open the door walking to the parking lot. My car was just calling my name. I have a dark blue jeep that my mom got me last year after I begged for my own car. I mean an eighteen year old has to have a car, right.

I got closer and unlocked my door. I threw my bag in the passenger seat, since I didn’t have to take Kimi home. I put my key in the ignition bringing the Jeep to life. The radio was on a local station and I decided to change that. I grabbed my CD case from the glove compartment. I searched through the CD’s searching for any song to make me forget about what awaited me at home.

As I searched, I heard the door to the jeep open. Slowly I turned my head toward the door to see a smiling Alex. I turned down the volume on the radio.

“Have you heard what Kimi got yet?”

I turned the case back to the front page.

“Yeah, she sent me a message when the bell rang. She said Arris didn’t go hard on her. She only got 2 days suspension and 2 ISS days. Her mom didn’t even ground her. She told her that she helped a friend and her mom let her off the hook.”

I smiled up at him. I was frustrated; I couldn’t find a CD to fit my precise mood.

Apparently Alex saw through my façade.

“Want me to help you find a CD?”

I only nodded, handing him the CD case. He took the case and searched the pages. He was fast; he had seen my small collection many times. Suddenly he stopped at a page and pulled out a CD.

He handed me his choice and I looked to see 3 doors down. We loved the group’s songs very much.

“Listen to “It’s Not My Time.” Maybe that will show you not to be afraid of what ever your mom has in store for you.”

Alex finished his small speech with a smile. He came and gave me a hug, telling me I could bare anything she threw at me. He gave me a kiss on the forehead and released me.

“I’ll text you later, I gotta go see Stacy. Later.”

He turned around heading toward his own car. I placed the CD he chose in the player. The player finally began reading the CD. I closed my door when the CD began. I turned the track until I found “It's Not My Time.” I pulled out of the parking lot heading toward my house.
