Red
is the color of the blood
I've recently began spitting up during my
increasingly frequent trips to the bathroom.

White
is the color of my
increasingly dull chalk-like skin.

Blue
is the color of the bruises
scaring my increasingly swollen knuckles.

Fireworks and
mortars
exploding in the sky,
raining down rainbow sparks
all over the
sidewalk.

Finally,
a holiday characterized by
bright colors and explosions
rather than
hams drizzled with brown sugar and
festively-decorated cookies.

and I'm fifty pounds
heavier
at least.
Fifty times paler
at least.

Everyone walking around in
short shorts.
Squeeze my thighs too tight
for comfort.
Don't wanna show off
my bruises and
vericose veins.
