On Fallon Miller's seventh birthday, she has a strange dream about a boy who saves her from freezing to death. For three years, the dream never failed to invade her sleep every night, and on her tenth birthday, the dream turns to reality. Fallon is not surprised to learn that the mysterious and handsome boy in her dream, Ayden McGuinn, is undeniably real.
After realizing that Ayden has nowhere to go, he stays with Fallon and her mother. But there's something strange about him. He leaves the house for long stretches of time, and comes back exhausted.
