Returning to You

Jessica’s POV

I sighed nervously as I picked up the phone and dialled Brian’s number. After last night and my confession I really wanted to talk to him about something so I invited him over before hanging up and going into the kitchen.
I placed shaking hands on my tummy after putting the kettle on and getting the coffee machine ready for Brian. I was so nervous about this, not knowing how he would react, I mean its a sudden thing and I was just dumping it on him.
I took a deep breath, as Brian rang the bell, before going to answer it. I smiled and invited him in leading him to the kitchen where he sat on a stool while I fiddled around with cups and things. Brian watched my nervous movements and frowned as he asked
“why did you want to talk to me?” I glanced at him as I made the drinks and bit my lip
“I wanted to talk to you about something” Brian nodded still frowning
“what is it?” I sighed as I placed a cup in front of him and took a seat on the stool in front of him.
Brian ignored the cup and instead took one of my hands in his own and asked concerned
“is everything alright?” I shrugged
“I hope so” Brian frowned further
“what’s going on? You’re worrying me” I sighed and just decided to ask
“I was wondering if you would want to move in here?” I looked up at Brian to see him looking at me shocked.
“move in?” he breathed and I hurried to explain
“I just gave it a thought I mean it would be good timing, I’ve got a spare room since Hannah moved out and well it would mean that you were here for the baby all the time instead of being one of those part time dads which I know you don’t like”
“move in?” he croaked again. I was getting nervous so I carried on babbling
“I know there would be next to no privacy and you would be living right next door to your family and this place is small compared to your house and also you will be putting up with my mood swings and random crying lags but I just thought it would be a good idea, you can say no and I won’t be upset” I bit my lip as I finished to stop myself from blurting anything else out and watched as various thoughts and emotions crossed over Brian’s face as he thought about what I said.
After a moment Brian smiled and shrugged
“sure” a smile came to my face
“yes?” he nodded
“yeah I would have been here anyway if we were still together so I might as well move in and you’re right I don’t want to be one of those weekend Dads and I want to be there every step of this kids life” I grinned as I gazed at him
“you’re amazing!” Brian grinned
“I know, anyway you wouldn’t have moved in my place anyway, the nursery is here and I know how much you love this place” I nodded, I really did love this house, I had gotten rid of the bad memories it had given me and replaced them, I wanted to make more, family memories so the house saw some happiness after so long.
I bit my lip as I looked at him worriedly
“what about your place?” Brian grinned back at me
“I never gave Jimmy and Leana a wedding present” I laughed
“nice present” Brian shrugged and grinned cockily
“I know” I laughed and before long we were discussing the move.
