Chapter 88
Brian’s POV
I barrelled into the waiting room at the hospital and straight to reception nearly colliding with the desk. The receptionist stares at me in shock as I ask hurriedly
“where is Jess? She was just brought into emergency” the woman looked at me and pointed to a room down the hall
“she is having some tests done right now but you are welcome to wait in her room” I nodded and she told me the room number and I made my way there.
Sitting down in the chair I was fidgeting a lot trying to stop myself from getting up and barging into the room where Jess was, I was so desperate to see her it was pathetic.
After about twenty minutes the doors opened and Jess was wheeled into the room on a hospital bed by two porters with a doctor following who came to me and smiled
“hello I’m Dr Conrad and you would be Mr Haner” I nodded and he smiled
“good, now Miss Morten has suffered a lot, she was severely dehydrated and starved with significant damage to her body form the beatings she received, there were a few bones broken and a lot of surface damage but the worst was to her head, there doesn’t look like there is any brain damage that we can see but the brain is a complicated thing and we don’t completely understand it so there is no way to know what is going on until she wakes which could be soon or in a few weeks” I nodded and asked in a broken voice
“she’s alive though right” he nodded with a sympathetic smile
“yes there was no damage to organs except because of the dehydration and starvation, other than that she is very much alive with no life support” I breathed a sigh of relief, she would wake up.
I shook the doctor’s hand before he turned and left and I took the seat next to Jess and looked her over as I took her hand in my own. She looked horrible, she had definitely lost weight and colour, her hair was limp and matted and she had dirt all over her. Bruises coloured her skin and cuts lined her all over so overall she looked like death warmed over.
I sighed as I spoke to her
“well thank god you’re back Jess” I spoke as tears flowed and I gripped her hand tightly “I missed you so damn much you have no idea, god Braden is with my parent’s so he’s ok and Hannah is in the cells for the night as she took out Gena, near put her in the same state as you” I sighed “I can’t believe this happened, god why did this happen to you Jess? My beautiful, amazing Jess” I broke off to wipe away tears and chuckled “if you could see me you would tell me to buck up, tears aren’t for men but I can’t help it right now Jess, I just can’t” I broke off again to sob and not being able to talk anymore I laid my head on the bed at her waist and sobbed into the sheets.
