Dead in the Water

You Want Apologies?

I awoke from the most peaceful sleep I have ever had in the last two years only to hear Pete say, “Good evening, Elissa.”

“Pete!” I gasped realizing what we had done and pulling the covers up on me tighter.

Pete was sitting up in the bed with his back to me but he had turned just a bit, so he could look at me. I can’t believe I had sex with a vampire I barely know. Ooh but he was a hot vampire. Listen at me. What has gotten into me?

“What?” Pete replied laughing.

“Did we just have…Did we really do…” I tried to spit out.

“Yes, we had sex before we both fell back to sleep.” Pete said lying back on his side of the bed only to face me.

“Do you regret it, because honestly, I don’t?” Pete said.

“Well, no, it’s just that I don’t have sex with a guy before the first date. This is something that isn’t like me.” I said shocked at myself for letting my emotions get to me.

“Well, you were stressed so maybe it clouded your judgment.” He said trying to make me feel better but it only made me feel worse.

“You certainly didn’t try to stop me as I remember.” I replied.

“I did. I said I didn’t want to pressure you and I was shocked at what you were saying to me.” He said getting under my skin.

“Bull. You are a guy and you jumped at the chance to have me.” I said rolling my eyes and realizing that we were arguing like a couple already even though we weren’t.

“You started it by making a big deal out of the girls I have saved in the past all because of what Patrick and Jenny were saying. As I recall you were coming onto me. I cannot help it if you felt threatened by the mention of other girls. In addition, for the record missy, I have not slept nor been with another girl in almost a year.” He said irking me.

I laid there in silence thinking about what had happened. I have to say our chemistry is definitely off the charts. The sex was great and I slept with no nightmares. I guess that counts for something.

“So what is next for us?” Pete asked. “I mean do we just play this off like nothing happened and go about our business as friends or do we take it slow and see where this thing between us goes?” He asked making me think harder.

“Wow!” I replied.

“What?” He asked confused but giving me his smile that makes me melt.

“Isn’t that usually the girl’s line?” I asked.

“You are something else.” Pete said shaking his head at me.

“I guess I don’t know much about you either considering how we have only officially met in the last day.” I said. “For once, I am willing to put my heart out there. I have lived alone for so long, Pete. You don’t know what that is like or how that changes a person.” I said sighing.

“I know that you don’t have to run anymore, Elissa.” Pete said taking my hand.

“This thing between us may work, it may not but I know I don’t want you out of my life now that we know each other. I think we could learn some things from each other.” He said smiling.

“Is that so?” I asked getting closer to him.

“Yes.” He replied kissing me. It felt nice.

“So, I was thinking that you head back to your place and change. It is after eight pm and say, around eleven we meet at that club we first met at.” Pete said nonchalantly.

“Very smooth.” I said laughing. “Why, Pete, are you asking me out on a date?” I asked smiling.

“Maybe.” He said grinning back.

“This isn’t another excuse to get back into my pants is it?” I asked.

“Now would I do that?” He asked all innocently.

“Then maybe my answer is yes, I accept your date.” I replied kissing him before I got up.
