When I Turned the Television On

Intruder

When I Turned The Television On.

| Alice Midorikawa |

"Class has ended. You may go home now, students."

I grab my bag and take hold of Seth's hand.
He entwines his fingers into mine as we walk out of the classroom with Renn, Aiden and Nathaniel.
I glance at the girls who once chased after Seth.
Instead of glaring at us, they are whispering quietly to each other.

"Hey Seth, haven't you noticed that those fangirls of yours don't stalk you anymore?"

I face Renn in curiosity.

"I noticed that too."

Aiden looks around and goes back to the conversation.

"True. That's weird. What happened?"

Seth glances at the girls without making an eye contact.

"You're right."

As we open the school door, someone was blocking our way.
I glance up to see a girl who had dirty blond hair and red, red lips.
I cringe at the familiar ugliness.

Leanne Cook.

I look at Seth who was staring at her with widened eyes.

"Leanne?"

Hundreds of reporters and photographers huddle behind her.
She smirks and opens her mouth.

"Miss me? Surprised, aren't you? Well, I have come here to announce that your popularity is decreasing by the minute. Someone has taken over your career now. If you want to get your popularity rising again, run back to your Mr. X."

I stare at her with disbelief and turn my head to face Seth.
He is downright speechless.
He didn't know what to do, so I gently tug at his shirt to make him know that I'm here to help him.
He looks at me and nods his head.

"Who's behind all this?"

She smirks and shrugs her shoulders for effect.

"I don't know. Why don't you go check it out for yourself?"

I grip Seth's hand tighter.

"Shut the hell up! Leave Seth alone!"

I realize my mistake for blurting out at a famous actress.
Oh, whoops.

"Hmm? And who's this girl you're with, Seth? Your girlfriend? Aww, how sweet."
"Leanne, please. Go home."
"Why? I want to stay. It's fun to be with you."
"Do you really have no intentions of leaving, Miss Cook?"

Nathaniel walks to the front and faces the media.

"I've had enough of all of you. That's it."

He snaps his fingers, the video cameras and microphones all crashing to the ground.
Everyone gasped while others muffled their sobs.

"Now clean your mess and leave immediately."

He looks at Leanne sharply.

"Please leave now, Miss Cook."

She tries to show her brave side but fails to do so.
She scowls and moves a step backward.

"You heard me, Seth. Remember my words, because Daniel will take over soon!"

Seth cringes and places his fingers to his temples.
I look at him worriedly and pat his back to comfort him.
The school staff just stared at us in confusion.

"Um, we will be leaving now."

Renn taps my back and whispers in my ear.

"Hurry, let's go! We have to talk about this in your house."

I nod and call Seth.

"Seth? Seth, let's go home now."

He absentmindedly tags along, his mind drifting somewhere.
I frown.

What does that bitch want from him?
