A Life Worth Living

As It All Falls Apart

I never questioned my life. I always let things fall as they may. I never asked for more or took the little things for granted. But that couldn’t seem to stop the storm from coming. The storm that shook me to my very core.

The car crash that inevitably took both of my parents’ lives.

My name is Delilah Kent and I am now the soul caretaker for my six younger siblings. It has been two years since my greatest loss, two years of pure torture. After my family was told of the deaths, we were sent to live with my Aunt Gertrude. My father’s sister was a horribly sinister person. The only happiness she could seem to get was from watching us suffer. That’s why I am happy to report we are finally leaving our awful predicament. I am officially eighteen and can now, on my own, support my family.

And that is where this story begins. With the money from my parents’ will and our beat-up, ancient seven-passenger van, we left. We left to the place my mother was born.

A small Indian Reservation in Forks, Washington called La Push.
