‹ Prequel: Why Me?

The Screams Have Ended

The Truth

“Yes she was dear.” Dad said impassively.

“Huh?” I asked confused. “Who was right and about what?”

“Like I said, D.B. called before.”

“Yeah.” I said wanting her to continue, what she just said wasn‘t helpful at all.

“Mom tried to bribe her into never seeing you again. D.B. said and I quote. ‘I am his wife and the mother of his child.’ You should’ve seen the look on mom’s face! And like right after she stated it was a lie.’” Fran told me.

“What?!” I asked trying not to raise my voice at my mother.

Last time I did that, my son was around he cried his eyes and it nearly broke my heart.

“Juschtel, I-” Mom started but I didn’t want to hear it. Not now, may be not ever.

“Mom, I don‘t want to talk about, just meet your grandson and please try not to insult my wife again.” I said offering Jeeremy to her.

“Okay…what‘s his name?” she asked ringing her hands together before taking Jeeremy.

“Jeeremy.” I said.

“Jeeremy.” she repeated.

The rest of the night went better than I expected.

Dad was already trying to teach him life lessons, Fran is spoiling him prematurely with promises to go every and anywhere he wanted.

Mom didn’t say a word about D.B. Though she did try talking to me about but I really didn’t want to hear and just dismissed it.

“Well that was tiring wasn‘t it?” I asked my unconscious son.

“Lucky for you, you get to sleep whenever you feel like it, enjoy this while you still can.” I said shaking my head.

I carried the baby carrier into the house and quickly ran back out to lock the car. I went back in the house and almost had a heart attack when I didn’t see Jeeremy where I sat him.

“Dude calm down.” I turned to see Georg standing by the stairs with the baby carrier.

“Can you give me my son before you accidentally drop him.” I said walking over to him.

“I would never.” he said offended.

“That‘s the same thing you said when Relia let you hold Ritter for the first time and now look; the boy is on the floor eighty five percent of the time.” I said rolling my eyes and taking my son upstairs.

After I had put Jeeremy to bed and was getting ready for bed the guys came in and sat around my room.

“Can I help you with something?” I asked looking at them with an eyebrow raised its looks like they came to jump me or something.

“Yes, you can tell us how the visit went.” Bill said looking at me expectantly.

Oh great, I’d rather be jumped.

“Why don‘t you tell me how your visit went and I‘ll pretend to be interested while I lay down with my eyes closed.” I said.

“Uh uh, Georg fell for that once before but we’re not going to.” Tom said.

I swear twins share a brain, “Fine, talk!” I said sitting on the edge of my bed.

It was nearly two hours later that I was finally lying comfortably in bed.

It probably would have been longer if Daciana hadn’t sent Bill running in the middle of his sentence and if a call from Lenuta hadn’t had Tom out of my room faster than a jacket rabbit on speed.

Georg left when he told me the shortened version of his story because he was too tired to give me more details and because two of his three children felt like being active.

“Finally.” I mumbled.

I heard a baby cry and somehow knew it was Jeeremy but I stilled hoped it wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong I love him but I’m tried!

“Gustav!” Tom called. No such luck.

Yup, my son. I got out of bed and dragged my sons crib into the room, he was crying his little eyes out so I quickly picked him up and rocked him back and forth until he calmed down.
