Love Makes Blind

Barefooted.

[Paul's Point of View]

Elia’s bedroom door opened silently. Her mother peeked her head in.
“Oh, hi Paul, breakfast is ready soon, are you two coming down?”
“Yeah, I’ll wake her.” I smiled and looked lovingly down at the sleeping Elia. I could hear Mirella walk downstairs again.

“Elia…” I said silently and shook her shoulder lightly. I had been awake for an hour just watching her sleep.
Elia yawned and snuggled closer to my chest. I chuckled and brushed my fingers lightly over her back. “You have to wake up little monster.”
“I don’t want to.” She whined and kissed my stomach.
“Your mother has made breakfast.” I told her.
“Hm…” she stretched a little. “What are we doing today?”
“We’ll eat breakfast, then I have to get my result with the doctors, you can come.” I smiled. ”and then you get to decide what we’ll do for the rest of the week. Oh, yeah, my mom wondered if you, your mom and your aunt would to come over to dinner later.”

“I’m sure they will, I’ll come.” She smiled and sat up. “Can you find me a pair of sweats?”
I stretched and got out of bed. I found a pair hanging over her rocking chair. “These okay?” I handed them to her.
She nodded and I picked up my jeans, they were a little damp from last night’s rain. I couldn’t help but watch Elia as she pulled on her sweats. Her body was thin, but curvy. I wanted nothing more than to get back in bed with her. I pulled her into a hug.

“Thank you for staying with me last night.” She mumbled against my chest.
“It’s okay, I wouldn’t have left you anyway, monster.” I kissed the top of her head softly.
“How did you know I needed you last night?” she asked and raised her head from my chest.
“I don’t know, I just thought you would be upset after your brother left.” I stroked my finger across her cheek. “Let’s get some breakfast.”
Elia pursed her lips before she smirked. “Not before you kiss me.”
I smirked and leaned down and rested my head against her forehead and breathed out silently. Elia closed her eyes and sighed. I kissed her lips softly, but before I had the chance to pull away, she deepened the kiss and pulled her hands through my hair.

Elia pulled away after a few minutes and grinned widely. “Breakfast sounds good.” She took my hand.
I shook my hand and followed her. Damn, that girl is weird.

“Good morning Elia.” Valeira hugged Elia, and then looked at me. “Paul.” She nodded.
“Good morning.” I smiled and ignored Valeira’s cold shoulder.

Both Valeira and Mirella looked at me a little oddly when they saw I wasn’t wearing any shirt, but they didn’t say anything. It was, well, naturally for me to walk around shirtless; the people in La Push meant that was the main trait of ‘the La Push gang’, they didn’t know it was more practical. We all sat down at the table, the food smelled delicious, and I was starting to think that all the stuff people said about Italians makeing good food are true
.
“What plans do you kids have today?” Mirella asked us.
“Nothing specific yet, but Paul’s mom wondered if we wanted to eat dinner with them.” Elia answered her mom.
“We would love to Paul, right Val?”
Val raised her head and smiled. “Of course.”

“Do you want to head out?” I asked Elia when the table had been cleaned off.
She smiled. “Yeah.” She turned to where her aunt was talking to her mom. “Hey, Val, do you want to help me find an outfit?”
I saw Valeira’s face lit up. “Of course I want bambina!”
They headed upstairs and I was left in the kitchen with Elia’s mom.
I stared after as she walked upstairs, but I turned to her mother when I heard her chuckle.

She smiled at me. “You really like my daughter, huh?” she asked.
A smile spread on my lips. “I guess I do.”
Mirella continued to smile at me, but she furrowed her brows. “Just, please Paul, don’t hurt her. I know you might think it is exiting or what so ever that she is blind, but don’t get to deep in with her if you are planning to just butt out.”
I shook my head. “It’s not like that. I really like her, she is something special.”
Mirella nodded and smiled again.

“I wanted to ask you about something, I noticed Elia don’t like to talk about it, but why is it that she is blind? And that an operation can make her see again?” I asked Elia’s mother.
Mirella sighed a little; she didn’t like to talk about it either. “I’ll try explaining it in a understandable way.” She smiled a little. “It is something that blocks inside her brain that causes the eye not to send the images she sees to her visual center, surgery can remove the blockade, and then she will see again. That’s how easy it is, but it is a very risky and expensive operation.”

I furrowed my brows and stared at the floor. “I wish there was something I could do to help.”
“You are doing very much just being here Paul! Elia has always been smiling, she always does. She tries to hide her pain because she doesn’t want to hurt me or Darin. But since we moved here, and she started hanging out with you, she has changed, she is really smiling, Elia is really laughing. She has got back the little glimmer of hope in her eyes. I never thought I would hear my daughter giggle.” Mirella laughed a little, I knew form the tone of her voice that Elia really had changed. It explained a little why Dairn, and her mother, had accepted me so quickly.

Someone came bouncing down the stairs and I grinned when I saw Elia, she looked amazing. She wore a white dress with a simple bracelet one her right hand. I grabbed her hand when she stopped at the bottom of the stairs.
“You look beautiful.” I smiled down at her.
“Thank you.” She blushed slightly.
I had to force my eyes to look at her face, not further down, the dress showed a little cleavage.
“Let’s go.” I walked to the front door.
“Bye!” she yelled over her shoulder and pushed open the door.
“Aren’t you going to wear any shoes?” I asked her and looked down at her naked feet.
Elia chuckled. “I like being barefooted; it’s easier to know where I’m walking when I feel the ground.” We started walking in the direction of my house.

“Well okay, jump up little monster!” I said and stopped in front of her.
She scowled a little. “What if I don’t want to sit on your back?”
“What if I don’t give you any choice?” I asked in a teasing tone.
“What if I run away from you?” she asked in the same tone.
I smirked. “You can only try.”

A smile formed on her lips and she started running. She was fast. Her dress was swirling around her and she was laughing loudly when I started chasing after her. I ran in front of her and grabbed her around the waist. I threw Elia over my shoulder and continued to walk.
“Paul! Set me down!” She giggled.
“No I won’t.” I smiled.
She started kicking so I lifted my free arm and put if over her ass, it was right next to my face. Elia froze and I laughed.

“Paul!” she whined.
I removed my hand but turned my head and kissed the side of her ass through the thin fabric of the dress.
Elia giggled again. I pulled her down from my shoulder, but held her in my arms bridal style.
“You know I’m not a baby, right?” she asked me and rested her head on my shoulder.
“I do, but I like to carry you.” I smiled and placed my lips on her forehead.
“Were are we heading?” she wondered.
“I need to get a shirt before I go to the doctor.”
“Okay.” She smiled and sighed peacefully.

A stupid grin was plastered on my face. I started thinking about the conversation with her mother. She told me I had changed Elia. But I think Elia have changed me too. The way I’m acting, it’s nothing like me. Last night, I undressed her, without wanting to fuck the living hell out of her. I don’t look at her as if she is something I can use to please my needs. I look at her and wonder what I can do for her. And I wonder what I have done to possible deserve a girl so perfect.

I'm not Italian, nor do I speak Italian. The Italian words I'm using is translated by Google.
And her blindness, with her eyes and brain, I don't think that's real, I just came up with it.
