One Of The Boys

05

I got up early, again, and took a shower. My mornings are pretty repetitive. Today I wasn't sure what I wanted to wear. I dug through my clothes. I wasn't sure if it was time for a dress yet. I was sure I wouldn't be comfortable if I wore one. I eventually chose something. I once again left my hair curly. I put on chap stick, simply because I was really in love with the way my lips looked with it on. I went downstairs and once again got looks from my family.
"So, is this something we can look forward to from now on? Sam dressed sorta girly?" Scotty asked me.
"I don't know…do I look okay?" I asked nervously.
"Yes!" everyone said at once, which was pretty creepy if I do say so myself.
"You look beautiful no matter what to me, sweetheart." My dad said, kissing my forehead.
"Thanks daddy." I smiled. I ate breakfast with my brothers. Jesse got there and we left. His eyes seemed to linger on me a little, and I couldn't help but wonder if he thought I looked pretty today too. Before class Jesse and me ended up alone.
"You look really pretty." He said quickly. I turned to him and smiled.
"Thanks Jess. You don't look half bad yourself." I smirked, nudging him in the arm. He laughed. He put his arm around my shoulders.
"Guys are about to be all over you. I hope you have a stick to beat them off." He said, resting his cheek against my hair for a few seconds. I rolled my eyes.
"Puh-lease, I'm just one of the boys. It doesn't matter how I look, guys won't be interested." I said with a slight sigh.
"Ah, what a modest girl." He said, pushing me away gently. I laughed.
"Well I should get to class." I said.
"Alright, see you at lunch." He smiled.
"Okay!" I grinned. I turned down a hallway and went to class. Everything went pretty slow. At lunch I found Jesse and Danny, but before we could leave we found Evelyn.
"Hey new friend." She grinned.
"Hey," I smiled back. She looked at Danny.
"Well hello, Romeo." She smirked.
"Ah, Juliet, it's nice to see you again." He smirked back. I rolled my eyes. I felt worried that this little flirtation would develop into something more. And that probably wouldn't end well.
"And hello to you too, Jesse." She said.
"Same, Evelyn." Jesse said.
"So you aren't sick of me yet are you?" Evelyn asked me, but before I could answer she started talking again, "Goooood, cause I'm going to lunch with you." She grinned, looping arms with me. I laughed again.
"Okay." I said. We went to Jesse's truck. Evelyn and I sat in the back. We talked and laughed about random things. She was quite the girly girl. She had on a tank top, a skirt and sandals. She wore makeup and straightened her hair. She was pretty.
"So what do you want to do after school? We should go to the mall. I haven't been yet." She said.
"That sounds fun." I shrugged.
"Sweet," she leaned forward suddenly, "You boys wanna go?" she asked.
"Maybe we'll meet you there." Jesse said, looking at me through the rearview mirror. I smiled.
"Sounds good to me." She said, sitting back just as suddenly.
"You really love to talk, don't you?" Danny asked, turning around to look at her.
"I sure do." She grinned.
"Luckily for you your voice is pretty or I'd tell you to shut the fuck up." He said, smiling devilishly.
"Luckily you think that, cause I'd bitch slap the fool who cusses at me." She said, giving him a look I didn't quite understand. I laughed to myself, and so did Jesse.
"I like you friend, Sammy." Danny sang, turning back around. I simply rolled my eyes. We got to McDonalds a minute later. We went inside and ordered then sat down.
"So, is everyone here single?" Evelyn asked.
"Yep." Jesse said happily. She nodded. We ate lunch, then went back to school. Evelyn waved goodbye and walked with Danny to wherever there classes were. "I think they have a thing for each other." Jesse said.
"It's only obvious." I laughed a little.
"Do you like anyone?" he asked.
"No." I said quickly. "Do you?" I asked.
"I don't know." He shrugged.
"How do you not know?" I asked.
"Well, I'm just not sure. I've never been unsure about anything like this. But this time I am." He said.
"Who is she?" I asked quietly. He smiled.
"It doesn't matter." He opened our classroom door and I walked in. I thanked him for holding the door then went to my seat. The same girl went to his desk today. I bit my lip and looked away. I felt a little hurt. But I brushed it off. Jesse was my best friend, and that was that. I tried to focus on class. I looked over at him helplessly and found him staring at me. He smiled. I smiled back. He pursed his lips and winked. I snickered but immediately stopped when I saw the sharp look the teacher gave me. I glanced at Jesse. He was smirking to himself. I knew he was giving himself a mental pat in the back for getting me into a little bit of trouble. He's always tried, but only playfully of course. After class he grabbed my wrist.
"Wait up, Sam." He said. He put his arm around my shoulders again. I looked around and saw the looks he was exchanging with guys that looked at us. If I didn't know better I would think he was being possessive. "So do you want Dan and me to go to the mall with you girls? Or did you want some alone time?" he asked.
"I don't mind either way. If you want to go you should meet up with us." I said.
"We'll think about it." He said. I nodded. He walked me to my classroom. "I guess…maybe I'll see you at your house later."
"alright." I smiled. I went into my class. Evelyn talked my ear off when given the chance. Once school was over she dragged me to her car. She had a 2010 black Dodge Charger.
"I'm not trying to brag, but my parents have a lot of money. My moms a brain surgeon and my dads a lawyer." She said.
"We have money too." I told her, "my dad's a music producer. He works with more bands then I can imagine." I said.
"Are you serious!? Do you ever get to meet them?!" she asked excitedly.
"Sometimes. I met Mick Jagger, Gerard Way, Corinne Bailey Rae, and a couple other people." I said.
"That is fucking awesome!" she yelped. "Oh, where in the hell am I going?" she asked. I explained to her how to get to the mall. We eventually got there. We walked around for a while. She dragged me into a million different stores. "Are you going to get anything?" she asked.
"Probably." I said.
"Oh! You should let me pick some stuff for you!" she said excitedly.
"Okay," I shrugged. At every store we went to she had me try on a million things. I ended up buying a lot, but so did she. We were walking around when suddenly arms wrapped around my waist and picked me up. I screamed in shock, causing people to look at us. I blushed.
"Sorry," a familiar voice filled with laughter said in my ear. I shivered and turned around. Jesse was grinning down at me.
"You decided to come." I said.
"I did. What'd you get?" he asked.
"Just stuff." I shrugged dismissively. He nodded. It was then I realized that his arms were still around me. I looked down at them and he quickly let go. He cleared his throat and looked past me. I turned around and saw Danny flirting with Evelyn. She was laughing and flirting back.
"So I can't see anything you bought?" he asked as we walked over to them.
"I guess you can." I mumbled. I looked through a white back and pulled out a baggy, black cropped t-shirt. He grabbed it and held it up. He nodded slowly.
"Nice. Anything else?" he asked.
"Nope." I smirked, taking the shirt back and stuffing it into its bag.
"Why not?" he whined a little.
"it’s a surprise." I said, sticking my tongue out at him. He laughed.
"Whatever," he scoffed a little. I laughed too. After about an hour me and Evelyn went to her house, and the boys went to ours.
"We should paint our nails." She said as she put away her new stuff.
"Okay," I shrugged. When she was done she disappeared into her bathroom. She came back with a zip-up bag. She painted both of our nails since she knows what she's doing. She painted mine pink, even though I protested. She painted hers green.
"So, you have a thing for Jesse, don’t you?" she asked.
"no," I rolled my eyes.
"Mhm, sure." She said.
"You have a thing for Danny, though.' I said.
"Maybe." She smirked.
"Totally gross." I said, making a face. She laughed loudly.
"He's hot." She said.
"He's also a player." I told her.
"Honey, if he goes out with me he'll be more whipped then a fucking pony." She smirked. I laughed that time.
"Good luck with that." I said.
"Thanks, but I won't need it." She winked. I fell back on her bed and laughed a little.
"Well I should probably go home, I have lots of homework." I said.
"Oh fine," she complained. On the way home I turned to her.
"Why didn't your parents wait until your graduated to move?" I asked.
"I don't know, I guess they thought one month would make a huge difference. But I don't really mind. I like you and your friends that I've met so far." She said.
"Well that’s good, because I don't have any other friends. You know…you should stay the night with me this weekend, you could meet the rest of my family." I said.
"I am in!" she smiled happily. I smiled too. She dropped me off at home. Outside was my dad's car, Jesse's truck, and Dallas's Jeep. I went inside and my dad came from the kitchen.
"Hey kiddo, where ya been?" he asked.
"No one told you?" I asked.
"Jesse and Danny did." He shrugged.
"Well then there you do." I smiled.
"What all did you get?" he asked, eyeing my bags.
"Your not mad are you?" I asked.
"Course not. Can I see?" he asked.
"Nope. It's a surprise." I smiled.
"Alright, well dinner should be ready in about an hour." He said.
"Okay!" I sang, running upstairs to my room. I put the bags next to my dresser and quickly went to work on my homework. I finished right as my dad yelled that dinner was ready. I walked out of my room and ran into Jesse.
"She's girl, how many times are you going to run into me this week?" he asked with a smirk. I blushed.
"Sorry, I'm really hungry." I said. He pushed me gently and I pushed him back. Right before we got to the stairs I jumped on his back. He grabbed my thighs and held me up. We walked me down the stairs and to the kitchen. I couldn't help but to smell his cologne. It smelled…amazing. I don't know how I didn't notice it before. I slid off of him when we got to the table. I sat between him and Dally. We dug in to the homemade macaroni and cheese, fried chicken and salad. It was delicious. My dad is a really good cook (when he tries). After dinner we went to the living room and played video games. I kicked all their asses. I went to bed really happy.
