Never Regret

Interview

Today we were in Lincoln, Nebraska. We’d been here for three days already, this being our fourth. Our show was tomorrow night, and it’s our tenth one, taking us into the end of August. JC and Reece, as well as some of the other guys, had gone on a breakfast run about an hour ago, so I’d been happily munching on a cream cheese and salmon bagel for a little while now, as well as my early morning coffee fix. But we were nearly all finished now.

“Alright, Logan and Mack, you have an interview for buzznet in 15 minutes in the back room of the venue,” Pete announced.

“Why me and Logan alone?” I asked, raising an eyebrow, dumping my trash in a nearby bin.

“Dunno, that’s all Bree wants,” Pete shrugged.

Logan and I looked at each other and shrugged too. Whatever! I shoved my sidekick in my pocket and walked with Logan into the venue, heading for the backroom. Logan knocked before entering, me following behind. Inside the room was a guy with a camera and a woman with brown and blonde hair holding a microphone.

“Hey, I’m Bree, it’s nice to meet you two. You’ll be in my feature called Breesays,” the woman introduced, smiling.

“Awesome, I’m Logan,” Logan smiled back, sitting in the chair next to her.

“I’m Mack. But you probably knew this already,” I nodded, sitting next to Logan.

“Okay, this is just gonna be a real casual interview, so don’t be afraid to loosen up and have fun, yeah? This is all about showing the fans who you really are,” Bree explained.

“Sounds good to us,” Logan laughed.

The camera guy gave us the thumbs up.

“Okay, introduce yourselves,” Bree whispered.

Logan looked at me and nodded.

“Hi, we’re Logan White and Mackenzie Wilmot, from Detroit, Michigan, and we’re in the band Never Regret,” Logan and I chorused.

“Okay, first question. If Logan answers first and then Mackenzie answers straight after, that would make it easier,” Bree smiled.

We just nodded.

“Number one celebrity you want to make out with,”

“Nikki Reed,” Logan grinned.

“Ville Valo,” I blushed.

“Favourite song to sing in the shower,”

“I’m walking on sunshine,” Logan confessed.

“It’s raining men,” I giggled.

Bree laughed at our cheesy choices.

“Favourite word,”

Logan and I looked at each other.

“Fuck,” we said in unison.

Bree laughed again.

“Favourite dance move,”

“Grinding,” Logan said with a dramatic wink.

“Funky chicken,” I snorted.

“Favourite pick up line,”

“I’m not Fred Flintstone, but I can make your bed rock,” Logan smirked.

“I don’t use them,” I chuckled, shaking my head.

“Favourite scene trend,”

“Uh...bandanas?” Logan offered.

“It’s not really a trend...but Audrey Kitching. She’s awesome,” I smiled.

“Favourite Disney Song,”

“Be our guest, from Beauty and the Beast,” Logan laughed.

“I just can’t wait to be king, from The Lion King,” I grinned.

“Superhero power that you’d like to have,”

“The power to make any woman fall in love with me,” Logan said straight away.

“Super strength, to knock away creepers like that,” I teased.

Bree laughed at our banter.

“Okay, so this is word association. I’ll say a word and you say what comes to mind,” Bree explained.

We nodded.

“Over-rated,”
“Toasters,”
“Cheerleaders,”

“Scientology,”
“Scam,”
“Weird,”

“Hayley Williams,”
“Hot,”
“Inspiration,”

“Man whore,”
“Not me,”
“Logan White,”

“MTV,”
“Cribs,”
“Super Sweet Sixteen,”

“Buzznet,”
“Our new favourite website,”
“Ditto,”

“That’s all the questions I have!” Bree smiled.

“Bye!” Logan said cheerfully, waving into the camera.

“Thanks for having us,” I laughed.

“And that’s a wrap!” the camera guy announced.

“That was awesome. It’ll be uploaded to buzznet in a few days,” Bree smiled.

“Thanks,” Logan grinned, standing up with me.

“Nice meeting you two,” Bree said cheerfully.

As Logan and I left the room, we bumped into Pete.

“I don’t like being an errand guy, but JC wants you back on the bus now,” Pete grumbled.

“Hah, thanks,” Logan grinned.

Pete walked with us over to the buses.

“So how was the interview?” Pete asked.

“Pretty fun actually,” I smiled.

“Yeah, Bree’s a nice girl,” Logan smirked.

“Glad you had fun. Buzznet’s a great opportunity for fans to get to know you,” Pete nodded.

We walked onto the bus, where JC, Reece and Taylor were sitting in the lounge.

“Alright, we should probably practice the cover for the show tomorrow,” JC smiled.

“Harder than you know, by Escape The Fate, right?” Taylor yawned.

“I’m so glad it’s another acoustic one. I like having a break,” Reece grinned.

“Nuh uh, Holland, you’ve got a tambourine part in this, remember?” Logan teased.

“Oh come on, that’s hardly effort. I’ll be fine,” Reece chuckled.

“And Logan, don’t forget the second verse is now higher and louder,” I added.

“Yeah, I remember we changed that yesterday,” Logan nodded, smiling.

“Er, guys, what are you doing?” Pete asked, confused.

We all looked at Pete, forgetting he was there.

“Haven’t you realised we’ve been changing our cover song every couple of shows?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Erm...no?” Pete offered.

“Well we have been. We don’t like having the same cover song. It gets boring,” Logan shrugged.

“Oh, well, fair enough. I’ll leave you to it then,” Pete said awkwardly.

We laughed as he left the bus. I reached for my beloved black fender acoustic guitar, slipping the strap over my shoulder as I crossed my legs yoga-style. In this particular cover, I was playing acoustic with Logan, as JC had an electric solo and he was singing backing vocals. I’ll admit, this is one of my favourite songs at the moment, so I’m stoked to perform this tomorrow.

“I’ll pretend to have a tambourine for now,” Reece chuckled.

“Alright, tap us in then,” Logan laughed.

He did so, and Logan and I started playing. After the introduction, Logan started singing.

“You said this could only get better
There's no rush cause we have each other
You said this would last forever
But now I doubt if I was your only lover

Are we just lost in time?
I wonder if your love's the same
Cause I'm not over you

Baby, don't talk to me
I'm trying to let go
Not loving you is harder than you know
Cause girl you're driving me so crazy

How can I miss you if you never would stay?
If you need time I guess I'll go away (I'll go away)
Inside me now there's only heartache and pain
So where's the fire? You've become the rain

Are we just lost in time?
I wonder if your love's the same
Cause I'm not over you

Baby, don't talk to me
I'm trying to let go
Not loving you is harder than you know
Girl you're driving me so crazy

And if you don't want me than
I guess I'll have to go (I guess I'll have to go)
Not loving you is harder than you know
Yeah

So I'll make the call
And I'll leave today
I'm gonna miss you cause I love you baby

And I'll make the call
I'm leaving today
And leaving always drives me crazy

Leaving always drives me crazy

Baby, don't talk to me
I'm trying to let go
Not loving you is harder than you know
(Yeah)

Baby, don't talk to me
I'm trying to let go
Not loving you is harder than you know
Cause girl you're driving me so crazy

And if you don't want me than
I guess I'll have to go
Not loving you is harder than you know
Girl You're driving me so crazy

Baby, don't talk to me
I'm trying to let go
Not loving you is harder than you know
Cause girl you're driving me so crazy”

Logan and I ended with a simple chord and we grinned. That was perfect. We were going to nail it tomorrow, no doubt. Taylor grinned and applauded us.

“That was awesome!” she squealed.

“Thanks sis,” Logan smiled.

“Hey, are you guys finished practicing?” Pete asked, poking his head into our bus.

“Yeah, just finished,” Logan called back.

“Party on the Cobra bus to mark 10 shows and two months!” Pete called.

“Won’t we be having one tomorrow night too though?” I called back, frowning.

“Yeah, and?” Pete chuckled.

“Are there red bulls?” I sighed.

Everyone whooped, standing up. I laid my acoustic guitar in my bunk as they left the bus, before heading out after them. I caught up with Michael and Mike, who were just leaving their bus too.

“I’m glad you decided to come,” Michael smiled.

“If there weren’t red bulls, I wouldn’t be coming,” I chuckled.

“You would really have spent the night alone?” Michael frowned.

Mike snickered, finding something funny. I don’t know what it was.

“Probably,” I shrugged.

“If you don’t ever want to come to one of these, just let me know, and we can hang out with mochas and the Xbox,” Michael offered, opening the Cobra bus door for me.

“You’d give up a night of partying for me?” I asked, sceptical.

“In a heartbeat,” Michael said softly.

I blushed and ducked my head to hide it. Michael grinned to himself, earning a wink from Mike. Maybe things were looking his way.
