Boyfriend's Ex Best Friend

Boyfriend's Ex Best Friend Chapter 17

Two days later my dad came home from the hospital.
He’s been taking it easy for a while, mostly watching sports and hanging out with me.
The weekend seemed to come so suddenly.
I had to run down to the drug store to buy my father some more pain medication.
I walked around the small store looking for the right medication for him.
“Violet?”
I turned around to face him.
“What are you doing here?” I asked.
“I could ask you the same thing,” he said walking closer to me.
“Well, I did so answer,”
“Not until you do,”
I sighed. “My father was shot in an armed robbery,”
“How is he?” he asked quickly.
“Fine, he’s home, now. Your turn,”
Josh sighed and ran his hand through his hair. “My mom is sick, so I came down for the weekend to visit,”
“How sick?”
“It’s nothing,”
“Then why did you fly down here? If it’s something major then tell me,”
“We broke up remember?”
“That doesn’t mean I stopped caring about you or your family,”
“Well she’s fine,”
“Liar,”
“Violet,”
“Tell me!”
“Cancer. Breast cancer,”
“What?” I whispered.
Josh nodded his head slowly. “She was diagnosed with it two days ago,”
“Josh, I’m so sorry,”
“It’s fine,” he said. I could tell he was on the break of tears.
I gave him a hug.
I could tell he was surprised, honestly, I was too.
He hugged back and held me tightly. He buried his head into my shoulder and sighed.
“Thank you,”
I pulled away and sighed. “Mind if I stop by?”
“She would love that,”
I smiled and walked away.
I found the pills and picked up some milk.
I bought my things and headed over to Josh’s place.
Once I got there I realized that his car wasn’t there.
I quickly got out of the car and rang the door bell.
His mom answered the door and grinned at me. “Violet” she said shocked.
I grinned and hugged her.
“Joshua told you,”
“Yeah,”
She sighed and smiled at me. “Come inside,”
