Boyfriend's Ex Best Friend

Boyfriend's Ex Best Friend Chapter 4

Max woke me up with her shower singing.
I tried to block her out but, that was impossible. So I got out of bed and got ready for today.
“Good morning,” she sang,
“Ready for breakfast?” I asked.
“Yeah, let’s go,” she said linking arms with me.
We skipped out of the dorm to the nearest cafeteria. We had to stop at a few maps but we found our way.
We joined the shortest line and grabbed a tray.
“So, what’s your plan for the day,” Max asked.
“Balancing my time between my family, you and Josh,”
“Same, my parents leave today,”
“So do mine,”
“Then, we’ll spend time with our families and when they leave we’ll hang out,”
“Good plan,” I said swiping my ID card.
She laughed as she swiped hers.
We looked around for a table to sit at, most of them were full.
“There’s one,” I said pointing to an empty table.
“Let’s go,” she said walking over to it.
I followed behind her over to the table when a guy bumped into me. I watched my food spill on the floor along with his.
“Sorry,” a familiar voice said.
I looked up to see Matt.
“It’s okay,” I smiled.
“I’ll buy back your food,” he smiled.
“You don’t-”
“I want to,” he interrupted.
“Okay. Max, I’ll be right back,” I said.
“Take your time,” she said looking at Alex and Jerry sit down across from her.
I laughed as I followed Matt in line.
“So, how’s life been for you? I haven’t spoken to you in two years catch me up,”
He chuckled. “Work, non stop,”
“That sucks,”
“Yup,”
“How’s Lucy?” I asked.
“We broke up a long time ago,”
“Really why?”
“It was an ‘it’s not you it’s me’ thing”
“Ah,” I said.
“So, what about you?”
“High school, nothing really changed, I missed you guys so much,”
“We missed you too,”
“Good,” I said jokingly.
“So, you and Josh still?”
“Yeah, going on three years” I smiled.
He nodded his head. “So, what are you here for?”
“Um, teaching,”
“Nice, what subject?”
“Um, I think math”
“Good choice,”
“What about you?”
“Business man,”
“Cool, do you want to start your own business?”
“Yeah, I don’t want to work for the man I want to be the man,”
I laughed. “Good choice,” I said mocking his words.
“Hey, you can’t use what I say on me, unless it’s a complement. Like if I tell you look so damn sexy today, you can say that to me, get it?”
“Yeah,”
“Let’s test it. Violet Meyer, you look so damn sexy today,” I smirked.
“Matt Johnson, you look so damn sexy if you were Josh Thomas,”
“Thank you…hey” he glared at me playfully as I laughed.
He shook his head as he swiped his card for himself and for me.
“Thanks,” I smiled.
“No problem,”
We walked to the table where the guys and Max were.
She was bent over with laughter.
“Hey,” I said sitting next to her,
“Hey,” they said back.
The five of us eat our breakfast together, cracking jokes and laughing. I saw Matt look over at me several times I would look at him and he would turn away.
After breakfast we said our good byes to the guys.
We went to the lounge and played foosball, until our parent called us and told us were to meet them.
Max and I went our separate ways.
I spent the day with my parents and Daniel and Kara. Josh joined us around lunch time.
They left for the airport and Josh and I were free to hang out.
“I want to take you out,” Josh said suddenly.
“Where?” I giggled.
“Anywhere, my dear,”
“Okay, when?”
“Now, I’ll drop you off so you can get ready,”
I smiled as we walked to Josh’s car hand in hand.
