You're So Pretty On the Outside

How do you know each other?

*Jennifer*

I got out of the carplanet killer and followed Anna up to the front door of her house. My eyes spotted a second car and immediately made a connection to her friend, frowning as I come to the obvious conclusion that they owned two of the contraptions. I frowned when she turned to me and whispered for me to be quiet but nodded and followed her into her house.

I quirked an eye brow at her behaviour as she crept forward, peeking around the corner of an entrance. I saw her posture relax notably and frowned again. She turned to me and smiled, gesturing for me to come forth as she moved over. I did as she’d said and looked into the room, my eyes settling on a crowd of five people. My eyes trailed over the faces and froze at the last face. Oh, no! Dear God, must you fucking torture me so!

I cocked my head to the side and frowned, trying to figure out if it was really him or if my mind was playing tricks on me. It can’t possibly be him! Can it?

“Who are you staring at?” I heard Angel ask beside me.

“Lee Malia,” I replied, gaze frozen on the boy who was talking to a guy who had his arms around the only other girl in the room.

“Do you know the band?” Angel asked, quirking an eyebrow. I turned to her and shook my head.

“I ran into him when I was going to see you,” I replied, my cheeks burning lightly.

“Oh. Well, come on, I’ll introduce you to everyone,” she said pulling me into the room.

I blushed and looked down at my converse, wishing I’d dressed in something less skimpy. I hated wearing shorts and such around large crowds. Not to mention the majority are dudes. I kept my eyes down as I waited for Angel to speak up. I glanced up every once in a while to see Lee staring at me with small smile on his face, his posture straighter than before.

“He’s cute, yeah?” Angel whispered to me making me blush. That is so not helping damn it!

“Ok! Hey, everybody, this is Jennifer. Jennifer this is everybody. Over there is Sarah, she’s my friend and roommate. That’s her boyfriend Curtis. Then there’s Matt Kean, otherwise known as Mattie, and Matt Nicholls who I like to call Bear. And you already know Lee,” she introduced, gesturing at each person as she named them.

I nodded to them all, blushing slightly when I looked at Lee. Fuck, Jen! Quit acting like a lovesick high school girl! You’re past this you moron!

The group turned to look at him when she mentioned he knew me. I bit back a laugh when I noticed him tense, his eyes snapping from side to side as he leaned back, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. Angel saved him from the attention, continuing to speak.

“Alright well Jennifer is my new friend so be nice to her.”

Her friend Sarah stood up and walked over, smiling. She held out her hand and I shook it, smiling nervously. “It’s nice to meet you, Jennifer.”

“It’s nice to meet you too, Sarah,” I smiled back at her.

She walked away and I brought my hands behind my back. The guy Angel had introduced as Bear walked up and made a gesture for her to follow him. She looked at me and nodded, telling me she’d be right back before walking after him.

I watched her walk away, awkwardly switching from one foot to another. I’d never been one for crowds and this crowd was big enough to scare the living shit out of me.Especially with Lee in it. Well, speak of the devil.

“Hey,” Lee said, stopping before me with a grin. I blushed and smiled back nervously.

“Um... hey,” I replied.

“Didn’t think I’d see you again,” he laughed. I laughed awkwardly.

“Same here.”

“So I’m guessing you were going to meet her when you ran off?” he smiled. I gasped.

“Say what?! No way, I didn’t run off!” I exclaimed, crossing my arms. He laughed.

“I’m joking,” he stated. I smiled.

“Yeah, yeah,” I replied, rolling my eyes. “So, are you all like... British?”

Mattie and Curtis nodded. “Yup.”

“Are you guys here for good or...” I asked, brow quirked as I looked between the three.

“No, we were originally here for a tour,” Lee replied. “It just ended. We decided to stay
because our next doesn’t start for a while.”

“Oh,” I nodded. I glanced at the three. “So, what’s your band?”

“Bring Me The Horizon,” Curtis replied.

“Genre?” I continued.

“Er... I dunno... Death metal?” Lee replied, scratching his head.

“Who does what?” I asked.

“Bass,” Mattie said, raising a hand.

“Rhythm,” Curtis informed.

“Lead guitar,” Lee told me. “You want to sit or something?”

“Oh, yeah sure,” I agreed. “What about him?”

The guys all looked up at the guy who just came back out with Angel. Bear, I think.

“What? What about me?” he asked frowning.

“Instrument,” the other three said in unison.

“Oh, drums,” he smiled.

“Where’s your singer?” I asked, confused.

“I wouldn’t so much call him a singer,” Curtis laughed. “He’s not here. His name is Oli,
though.”

“Okay, then. Umm... what do you mean, not a singer?”

“He screams,” Curtis answered as I sat down on one of the couches.

I glanced over at Angel curiously when I noticed Curtis look from her to Bear and back. She mouthed ‘later’ to me which I accepted and turned back to Lee and Bear, who was now sitting cross-legged before me, looking up at the two of us curiously. I cocked an eyebrow and tilted my head to the side, eyeing him curiously.

“So, how is it you two know each other already?” he asked. I groaned.

“Damn it, I was hoping you wouldn’t ask,” I grumbled.

“Agreed,” Lee murmured back before answering his question. “We slammed into each other which made my stuff fall out of my bag and she was kind enough to come back and help me pick it up. That’s pretty much how we met.”

“And you guys took the time to chat while I was standing like a loner in God damned park?”
Angel laughed. I rolled my eyes.

“Oh, don’t even talk Angel! You’ve done that to me so many times I’ve lost count!” Sarah
laughed.

“No I have not!” she argued. “When have I done that?”

“When you met that asshole of a boyfriend you called Jason? You were supposed to meet
me at Starbucks! You kept me waiting ten freaking minutes! Oh, and we were at the grocery store and I was waiting in the car for what? 20 minutes? That’s it! 20 minutes while you
flirted with that punk guy who had stopped you!” Sarah stated, laughing. “This list goes on, it could last all day.”

Anna’s expression went from confusion to shock to annoyance in less than a few seconds. She sent Sarah a death glare which seemed to affect her in the wrong way. The recipient smiled and jumped up, taking Angel up in tight bear hug. Angel gasped and hit her shoulder, pushing her away a bit. When Sarah finally let go, the poor girl was gasping for air and had fallen against the wall, hand over her chest.

“Fucking hell, must you really kill each time we hug?” she laughed breathllessly, arching a brow.

“Yes,” was Sarah’s answer as she moved back to Curtis.

“Anyway,” Curtis said, slipping his arm around her waist. “How did you two even meet?”

“Who?” I asked, blushing. Fucking hell, Jen quit with the blushing!

“You and Angel,” he replied. “How did you two meet?”

I glanced over at Angel in time to see her slowly give in to the fit of laughter that the question had brought on. I rolled my eyes, shaking my head at her reaction and gestured for everyone to turn to her.

“I’m sure she can tell you that story.”
