Where Did We Go Wrong
Chapter 11
All my clothes and belongings were packed that I would be bringing with me for Winter break to the Weasley’s. It took me awhile to finish because my mind was in a different place. My ex-boyfriend was now something that most witches and wizards feared, a Death Eater. I almost wished I hadn’t been eavesdropping on Draco and Snape, but if I hadn’t of who’s to say I would have ever found out or been able to accept it.
I hated admitting Harry was right from the beginning. I’m sure in his head he’s all proud and ‘I told you so’, of course he wouldn’t say that, but I knew he thought it. He liked being right, a little too much. I desperately wished for once he wasn’t right. I knew he’d tell the others because he knew I wouldn’t want to talk about it.
I wanted to forget about everything Draco had done to me. The pain he caused me. The countless hours I spent crying over it. Seeing him in the hallways was hard enough or having classes with him. We seemed to avoid each other just fine though. I guess what they say is true; you never completely get over your first love.
“There you are!” Jasmine shouted as she opened through the dorm door.
“I just finished packing.” I admitted.
“About time, I’ve been done for hours!” She smiled.
I laughed to myself, “That’s just because you can’t wait to be alone with Harry.”
Her cheeks turned the deepest pink, “Oh shut up.”
“Are you two official? Or did he just invite you to the Christmas party as a friend?” I asked curiously.
“Well…we talked about it for a long while and I sort of told him how I liked him for so long and he said he realized he hadn’t seen what was right in front of him the whole time. So yeah, we’re official.” She grinned widely.
“Well congrats,” I smiled happily for my friend.
“Thanks, well we should get to the Great Hall for breakfast if we don’t want to be late.” She stated.
After breakfast was over I quickly headed to Dumbledore’s office to say goodbye to him before leaving. Instead of knocking like I usually would do I just walked in, “Oh hello Renae,” Dumbledore smiled from his desk.
“I wanted to come say goodbye before I leave for break.” I returned the smile.
“I’m glad you chose to do so,” He smiled, “where are you spending the holidays this year?” He asked curiously.
“At the Weasley’s, Audrey and Jasmine are going too. Then I’m going home to see mom for a couple days.”
“Why is it that you don’t sound very pleased with this?” He wondered.
“Oh, well, um…I’ve just got a lot on my mind. I’ve found myself questioning everything lately.” I sighed.
“Some questions are best left unanswered. Life is far more interesting not knowing what’s to come.” Dumbledore said.
“I guess you’re right,”
“Well you best be off now, wouldn’t want you to miss the train.” Dumbledore stood up to hug me.
“Alright, bye, love you.” I smiled.
“Have fun,” He winked and turned around to go back to his desk.
I ran to the Great Hall to catch up with all the other students. Hagrid escorted everyone to the train and all the luggage was already put away. Audrey, Jasmine, and I found an empty compartment to claim and piled in. Audrey was restless and ever so eager to get to the Weasley’s to be reunited with George.
It wasn’t long before Harry, Ron, and Hermione found us to share the compartment, “Finally found you guys.” Ron sighed.
Harry sat next to Jasmine with Hermione and Ron sat next to me with Audrey. Harry looked bothered and like he wanted to say something, “What is it Harry?” Ron questioned.
Harry gave me an apologetic look then looked to Ron, “What do you know about the Unbreakable Vow?”
I was waiting for Hermione to jump to answer the question, but she just looked worried, “Why?” Ron asked.
“Renae and I overheard Draco and Snape talking when we took off from the Christmas party. Snape said he made the Unbreakable Vow.” Harry replied.
“You’re sure that’s what Snape said?” Ron sounded serious.
“Positive, why?” Harry asked.
“Well, it’s just you can’t break an Unbreakable Vow.”
I laughed to myself, “I’d worked that much out for myself, funnily enough.” Harry replied.
“You don’t understand.” Ron looked out the window.
“So, what happens to you? What happens if you break and Unbreakable Vow?” Harry asked.
“You die.” Ron said blankly.
The rest of the train ride was fairly quiet. Hermione read, Audrey gazed out the window, Harry and Jasmine talked amongst themselves for a bit, and Ron and I talked. We ordered sweets off the trolley that we shared with each other.
When we arrived at the Burrow Mr. and Mrs. Weasley were standing outside to great us. Mrs. Weasley gave each of us hugs as Mr. Weasley would shake our hands and smile. There were loud noises coming from inside the house, “Move out of the way you bloody git!”
The front door swung open revealing Fred and George pushing each other out of the way, “Honestly you two, could you behave long enough to realize who’s here?” Mrs. Weasley scowled.
The two of them stopped and Audrey ran up to hug George, “We’re going to have a full house.” Fred announced.
We all made our way to Fred and George’s room to hangout except Ginny who would rather help prepare dinner. We were beyond bored waiting for dinner to be ready, “We should play a game. Hermione do you know any Muggle party games?” Fred asked.
She sat quiet for a minute thinking to herself, “Well there’s one called ‘Have you ever?’”
“How do you play?” I asked.
“Well its best played in a large group of people, which we have eight so that works. Each person takes a turn asking a ‘Have you ever…?’ question, and for everyone who has done it they high five with the other people who have also.”
We sat quiet, “Hermione that sounds lame.” Fred sounded displeased.
“I have an idea to make it more interesting,” Audrey smiled, “so, we can change it to ‘I’ve never…’ and whoever has done it removes one item of clothing and who hasn’t done it doesn’t do anything.”
“Now that’s what I’m talking about. I’ll go first; I’ve never liked someone in this room.” Fred grinned.
Everyone removed something and I wondered which one of us girls Fred had liked, but it didn’t really matter, “I’ve never snogged anyone.” Audrey laughed.
Yet again everyone in the room removed another piece of clothing. I was starting to get nervous when I realized I was almost out of jewelry. George cleared his throat, “I’ve never dated a Slytherin.”
George, Harry, Ron, and I all removed another piece of clothing, “I’ve never gotten detention.” Harry said.
Everyone but Hermione took something off, “Seriously Hermione?” Fred teased.
“I’ve never drank Polyjuice Potion.” Jasmine said.
Audrey, Jasmine, and I were the only ones safe this time. Time passed and more clothes were removed, “Dinner!” Mrs. Weasley yelled up to us.
By the end of the game I think it’s fair to say Hermione won. The guys were pretty much in just their boxers. Audrey had more off than Jasmine and I. Jasmine and I still had our bras, underwear, and pants on. It was a bit rushed to get all our clothes on. A very revealing game indeed.
I hated admitting Harry was right from the beginning. I’m sure in his head he’s all proud and ‘I told you so’, of course he wouldn’t say that, but I knew he thought it.
